Nearly half of sigs collected for recall of Wisconsin GOP state senators, Dems say

Re: Nearly half of sigs collected for recall of Wisconsin GOP state senators, Dems sa

With the untold story?????

sure... stick to your normal process of whining about the name of a link instead of actually reading it or doing your own research (MMA is NOT research).

Re: Nearly half of sigs collected for recall of Wisconsin GOP state senators, Dems sa

If people researched at all, they would have had a pretty good idea about how he planned to govern.

Double Thanks, Barb. Great information. I hope Walker is successful in giving Wisconsinites a true understanding of this issue.

Re: Nearly half of sigs collected for recall of Wisconsin GOP state senators, Dems sa

Not near as radical as a cold-blooded governor who uses his power to make up his own rules, completely ignoring fair play, established procedures, and long standing quorum rules.

ricksfolly
that the weasly-ass Democrats ran away and hid from, instead of staying and doing their ****ing jobs.

Re: Nearly half of sigs collected for recall of Wisconsin GOP state senators, Dems sa

If they do manage a recall and have reelections, and if the debate is as mindless and meaningless as the numerous threads on this topic on this website, it wont matter, because either way it turns out the people of Wisconsin are ****ed.

Re: Nearly half of sigs collected for recall of Wisconsin GOP state senators, Dems sa

As a dictator the Governor can do anything he wants, even throw out the recall votes, so in the end, the only way to stop him, and the other would be dictators, is with US troops.

ricksfolly

Annnnnd, that would be illegal. That would be awesome if Obama sent Federal troops in to relieve Scott. So awesome that words cannot describe it.

How did Scott make up his own rules? The state gave collective bargaining to the PEU's, the state can taketh away.

Posts on this thread get ridiculouser and ridiculouser. Walker made up his own rules?? You must be joking. Democrats flee the state to deny a quorum in the legislature -- and Walker ignored fair play? Come on Rick, give it up, what planet?

Re: Nearly half of sigs collected for recall of Wisconsin GOP state senators, Dems sa

This is probably why bold measures in this country usually fail.

Not knowing Wisconsin politics, I beg an honest question, however. Did Walker campaign on this issue or similar?

He did not campaign on removing collective bargaining rights. However, he did campaign on getting concessions from public employees, just not the extent.

PolitiFact Wisconsin | Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says he campaigned on his budget repair plan, including curtailing collective bargaining

Re: Nearly half of sigs collected for recall of Wisconsin GOP state senators, Dems sa

I for one don't care if he campaigned on this or not. He did it, and that's what counts. I hope he can soon find another way to cripple unions.

That's cool. I was just answering Fiddytree's question.

You'd think after Obama got elected on Hope and Change, people would do some reseach before voting.
However, in Walkers case I bet there are fewer with buyer's remorse than the media is trying to lead us to believe.

Maybe, but I was just answering Fiddytree's question.

It may depend on who wins the PR war. All I can say is that those Republican legislators were a brave lot. Every single one of them, with the exception of one who'd offered a compromise bill (to no one, since the Dems were hiding in Illinois), voted for this legislation. They did that because they truly believed in what they were doing for the state of Wisconsin...at great political risk to themselves. I hope it works out in their favor. It will -- if taxpayers are informed and paying attention.

Re: Nearly half of sigs collected for recall of Wisconsin GOP state senators, Dems sa

56,000 signatures.....In a state with over 200,000 Public Sector Union Slobs.....who have been voting Democrat since birth......who just had their bottle taken away.....

.......yes there will be recall elections......and Im betting neither Scott Walker or any of the Republican Congressmen lose their seats.

If the country has been begging for it, then he shouldn't have to worry about recalled or being voted out of office next time he runs in Wisconsin...

They both played by the rules... The rules are kind of messed up..

The rules in WI allow the Democrats to leave the state to avid doing their jobs?

The main primary job of any politician is to support and enact legislation their voters want and to oppose and prevent legislation their voters do not want. That's what they get elected to do. They did their job just like the republicans who found a way to enact anti-union legislation without a quorum did their job. To say these democrats did not do their job is a blatant lie. Until they change the quorum rules those in the minority will have that option to flee the state to stop a quorum.

The Democrats job is to wuss out and leave the state to hold up a critical vote, rather than stay and argue for what they believe in? Give me a ****ing break. Every single Democrat who fled their state AND their duty should be recalled.

Again a politicians primary job to oppose and prevent legislation their voters do not want and to support and enact legislation their voters want. Until they change the rules regarding quorums this is a legally available tool for the minority party to use. If you don't like democrats fleeing the state to prevent then contact your elected officials to change the rules regarding quorums.

You and I both know that the only reason they wanted the democrats to be there is so that a quorum can go on.Not because they wanted the democrats to be there to argue.

Give me a ****ing break. Every single Democrat who fled their state AND their duty should be recalled.
Again they did their duty, just like the republicans did their duty.

I know if some liberal government and liberal majority wanted to give free education to illegals, enact anti-2nd amendment legislation or ban military recruiters from schools I would want my elected officials who opposed those things to do any and everything they legally can to prevent those things from becoming law.

they... wussed...out.

Period. End of story.

They knew they couldn't follow the rules and win a vote, so they pulled a James T Kirk and tried to change the conditions of the game. Unlike Kirk, they don't get a commendation for original thinking.

They used a legally available tactic to try to uphold the will of their voters and therefore did their job. Period. End of story.

What rules did they violate? Was it illegal for them to flee the state to prevent a quorum?

The real moral of the story is that if you're elected to do a job in Wisconsin, don't run off to Illinois.

Getting union signatures is one thing.

Succeeding in the recall is something else. The fact that the union will be spending dues money seeking to overturn valid elections will only upset the 80% of voters in Wisconsin who aren't in public employees unions.
