"Today, the NCAA announced the Board of Governors voted to update the Association's participation policy for transgender student-athletes following the Trump administration's executive order," the collegiate athletic association said in a statement posted to its website. "The new policy limits competition in women's sports to student-athletes assigned female at birth only."

Good news. Title IX is back, and women will have equal opportunities in sports. If men want to play in sports, they will need to compete against other men. The fever is finally breaking on this particular madness of the crowds.

Absolutely, men are born bigger, stronger and more powerful than women.

OK.

I'm fine with it, as it should be imho, but the fact is this will not remotely affect me....nor will it affect anyone I know.

This should be handled by sports organizations, such as the NCAA as in this example. And not by bloviating politicians. IMO.

Gosh I'm ready to move on to something more important. Citizens United? Healthcare? Making billionaires pay tax?

Good news. These men can play in mens sports. They are not banned from sports. Just men cannot compete against women. For example, Lebron James would not play against Caitlyn Carter. Makes sense.

This clearly is a very important issue for you. Hopefully you’re able to sleep well at night now.

Excellent. Its time our women get protected from the misogynistic wokesters infecting society. this is what happens when you have a great leader in charge!

Why are so many leftists going down the road of “It is not important and should not be addressed”?

Clearly this is an important issue for you because you replied to the thread.

It’s the sensible thing to do. Unfortunately, the right wing has decided to weaponize the issue (typical). We know they don’t care about fairness for women and have been trying to undo title IX since its inception.

Goodness! Get out there and meet some women! They are over half the population!

Absolutely! It should have been! Terrible waste of time and energy that it got to that point.

And we're back to the bloviating politicians.

I’ve always been amazed at how much attention we on this site give issues that only affect a handful of people while ignoring those issues that affect most of us. If I had my druthers, only women would participate in woman’s sports, not men who turned themselves into a woman. But I wasn’t bothered by having them participate in woman’s sports. I thought that a bit stupid, but hey, stupid things happen all the time. I agree, we should be paying much more attention to issues that affect most of us, not just a handful.

It’s the sensible thing to do. Unfortunately, the right wing has decided to weaponize the issue (typical).
It would not be possible to "weaponize an issue" merely by taking a position you describe as sensible, unless there were a lot of people willing to fight like hell for the nonsensical side of the issue.

Fortunately the sensible position won this battle.

Its leftist like Harris, who lost, who are obsessed with queers and the like.

Trump simply cleaned up some of the mess.

I don't necessarily care all that much, I think sports could easily have said that mens/womens leagues are divided on sex, not gender and have been done with it.

But I don't think Trump has the power to issue the EO demanding it. The call has to be made by the sports franchise such as the NCAA doing it here.

Goodness, I know lots of women, and not one of them will be affected by this, just like I said.

I would have much preferred that he unveil our awesome TrumpCare™ plans that have been in the works for 10 years plus.

It must be a real DOOZY if its taking them this long to put the finishing touches on it!!

Its gonna be YUGE!! He wouldnt lie to "The Forgotten Man".

When they are playing at the college level and that often involves scholarships and competition for the spot, it is important that the playing field be level. I just don't think it's something that needs to be determined at a federal level.

While it’s true that the democrats walked into this and took an utterly unsustainable and ridiculous position on it, the RW has one motivation and it’s divide and conquer, get power, undermine women’s rights, including the right to bodily autonomy. The RW is disingenuous on all women’s issues. The rhetoric around this was also ugly and there was no need to villainize trans people.

For those saying it doesn’t have much of an impact, the issue of conflating sex and gender and denying biological differences impacts 51% of the population.

Firstly, I don’t like sports. I find all of them boring and uninteresting so I don’t really care about this personally one way or the other.
Secondly, what I also find uninteresting are distracting culture war issues that serve as mere red meat for right wingers to chew on while their pockets are being picked.

That (bolded above) is how Title IX was before Joe “Where am I?” Biden changed it.
