There were many white people protesting police violence this summer, and few blacks mixed in with the white supremacists on Jan 6th.
Racist cops were unnecessarily belligerent and aggressive this summer because they were confronting a mix of white and minority protesters who were protesting police brutality and racism. And the racist cops didn't like it.

If you monitored something other than Fox "News" and the like, you'd know that the overwhelming majority of protests this summer were peaceful. You'd know that much of the violence (certainly not all, but a sizeable portion of it) that did occur this summer was the result of overly-aggressive responses by cops.
Much of the nation was horrified by the belligerent, combative stance of police this summer, and witnessed those same cops buddying up with white counter-protesters--handing them water bottles, taking selfies with them, and so on. But I imagine Fox "News" didn't show that.

Until you get off your radical alternative-reality media outlets and start witnessing what's going on in the real world, you'll continue to have these kinds of questions.

Another Fox News viewer, I see.

What never gets acknowledged by the right wing is that much of the horror of this summers protests was watching the hyper-aggressive bullying and violence perpetrated by overly revved-up cops.

The strong reaction last summer by the nation against police brutality was twofold: 1) disgust and horror at watching cops murder or recklessly shoot people and 2) the overreaction by cops toward the subsequent protests. Much (not all, but a lot) of the violence this summer was at the hands of out-of-control cops.

That's what made the January 6 riots and the police force's relative lack of aggressiveness so startling.

several capitol police have been suspended, and other are under investigation about it. Trump wouldn't authorize the national guard, Pence finally did (he barely escaped a mob breaking into the room he was in). I suspect that the cause of the woman who got shot.

The riots actually began during the Obama Administration but leftist memories are very selective. They only remember the one where Republicans were involved.

It is significant that Biden as president election Biden became president-elect, an unarmed female Republican protester was murdered in the capital. Not ONE of the thousands of Democratic protesters who forcibly took over the Wisconsin Capital and shut down the government for over weeks was shot to death.
Next, it is ordered that the military are to shoot to kill anyone who shows up to protest Biden becoming president - with protesting Joe Biden is illegal.

Killing unarmed political opposition upon coming into office is a Biden presidency first.

Those plates are expensive and hard to come by (legally) for many.

It's also funny that wearing that shit in the commission of a crime (say, breaking into the Capitol) is itself a crime in many jurisdictions and enhances penalties almost anywhere (whether they have the plates or not). (18 USC 921 (35) "The term "body armor" means any product sold or offered for sale, in interstate or foreign commerce, as personal protective body covering intended to protect against gunfire, regardless of whether the product is to be worn alone or is sold as a complement to another product or garment.")

Can we once and for all debunk the insanely stupid phrase of "mostly peaceful protests" that the media made up last Summer to try and protect the left from criticism? There is no such thing.
There were upwards of 500,000 people in DC for that protest. What, a thousand or two that attacked the Capitol? So, yes, it was a "mostly peaceful" event, as you like to say.

You know what else is mostly peaceful? How about World War II? Only 418,000 of our 16,000,000 soldiers were killed. Hmm... also qualifies as mostly peaceful.

I was surprised they for in.

I became suspiscious when they didn't come out in a hail of tear gas and rubber bullets. At least.

Sometimes the best way to quell an uprising is an overwhelming show of force.

But there's a really good chance some softer targets will get hit. Gotta salve that ego, right?

I'm actually hopeful

We may get rid of trumpism as they casually take off their hats, turn around, and start shaking their fists at the trumpies.
