Act of Congress in the United States that, in general, imposes a statutory excise tax on the manufacture and transfer of certain firearms and mandates the registration of those firearms. The Act was passed shortly after the repeal of Prohibition. The NFA is also referred to as Title II of the Federal firearms laws. The Gun Control Act of 1968 ("GCA") is Title I.

All transfers of ownership of registered NFA firearms must be done through the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record (the "NFA registry").[2] The NFA also requires that the permanent transport of NFA firearms across state lines by the owner must be reported to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Temporary transports of some items, most notably suppressors, do not need to be reported.

The NFA infringes on our 2nd Amendment rights. It should be repealed.

Why specifically do you consider these laws to be a violation of your rights?

Well, there is that, but like a speed limit that is not enforced, it is often ignored.

That still, small voice that says: He’s right!

1. The Founding Fathers were devoted to the militia.
Read the debates about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and the militia’s importance leaps off the page. Alexander Hamilton, writing in the Federalist Papers, called a well-regulated militia “the most natural defense of a free country.” His anti-Federalist critics agreed with the need for a citizens’ militia, writing that “a well regulated militia, composed of the Yeomanry of the country, have ever been considered as the bulwark of a free people.”

Their disagreement was over how best to ensure that the militia was maintained, as well as how to divide up the roles of the national government vs. state governments. But both sides were devoted to the idea that all citizens should be part-time soldiers, because both sides believed a standing army was an existential threat to the ideas of the revolution.

So if we belong to the militia, restricting access to useful militia weapons is against the Second Amendment.

And an automatic weapons is the definition of a useful military weapon.

of course it does-and the supreme court decision that allowed it to remain, never attempted to justify its existence.

We no longer have the militia - they have been replaced by a standing army and professional police forces.

U.S. Code § 246.Militia: composition and classes

(a)The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b)The classes of the militia are—
(1)the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2)the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

In the last days of WWII in Germany, the Nazis formed the Volkssturm, or People Storm, a militia group of people who weren't eligible for draft the first time around. There were people aged 16 to 60 and some with medical conditions or crucial jobs.

The were given the only equipment left, WWI era rifles for the most part. Some didn't even have helmets or uniforms, they wore armbands.

They were of limited effectiveness. Mostly, they prolonged the war.

No such thing as an unfettered right.

Citizens will still be able to buy and keep firearms.
The 2nd Amendment says "shall not be infringed". The NFA is an infringement on the right to keep and bear arms.

What many forget about the 2d Amendment is that on its own it doesn't actually define the scope of the right, it defines the scope of federal authority which is a completely separate thing.

Actually, it does define the scope by saying: "shall not be infringed". Not, "shall not be infringed by Congress", or "shall not be infringed by the states", or "shall not be infringed insert government entity here"

What about healthcare?
statists think real rights should be limited as possible but court created socialist "rights" should be expanded as far as one can see

Communists are all for rights until those rights allow the people to defy the government.

Reality today tells us that there is no longer a militia. I could not care less about that language which means nothing in reality.

Please enlighten us then on the meaning of INFRINGED.
