NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson's in-laws, nephew found dead in suspected murder-suicide, per report (1 Viewer)

Horrible.

The article contradicts itself. It's saying Terry is Jimmie's father in-law and the suspect, but Terry is female and the wife of his father-in-law.

It's a terribly distressing time for all concerned. They should make sure they have their facts straight before reporting.

Yep, the article was poorly written. If Terry is the suspect (who later committed suicide) and the police heard only one gunshot then Jack and Dalton must have been presumed (shot?) dead (by Terry?) before police had arrived.

This is just awful, JJ is one of the genuinely good people in that realm of rich and famous people.

No one deserves this.

It's time we all had an adult conversation about mental health in this country. We really need to rid ourselves of the stigma to free people suffering so they can seek help before they turn to these ends.

No sane person kills like this, only someone suffering from a very deep mental illness would do something like this.

As someone that suffers from mental illness everyday, if you have any thoughts of harming someone or yourself please seek help, please reach out!

We need to fund out mental health systems, we need to speak openly about our issues. We need to quit shaming people for a illness and treating them as criminals or less than.

It's time for all this to stop!

When we see someone in need of professional mental help we need to quit ignoring it, we need to show compassion, and we need to say something.

We need laws to safeguard the mentally ill and those around them!

Hmm… if the (your?) diagnosis occurs only after the ‘patient’ has killed others and/or themselves then it’s a bit too late to seek treatment. BTW, who (in your opinion) failed to notice and act compassionately on the alleged mental illness of Terry?

thank you for saying the quiet part out loud. My son has PTSD and it is severe. I don't think there is a day that goes by that I do not pray for him. Our system is very inadequate in dealing with mental illness.

What would you consider to be an “adequate” way of “the system” dealing with his PTSD?

Dalton, 11, (right) and his grandfather Jack (left) were both killed at the family home in Muskogee, Oklahoma

throwing pills at a patient and just shrugging your shoulders as to treatment isn't the adequate way.....many psychiatrists say I just prescribe pills to treat...that is it....and it isn't the way to deal with it. I have an anxiety disorder, that was a response I received from a psychiatrist when I wanted to try other things besides medication. I already take a medication for ADHD, so I did not want to mix it with anxiety medication. Consequently, I take a natural remedy and do other types of therapy that have so far done a lot in helping my anxiety. My husband also recognizes when I am having some issues with it..it comes from traumatic incidents in my life (the murder of my brother in law, a hurricane, child hood abuse, etc) I am able to work my way through it, because of lots of people around me that were proactive...not everyone has that. My son's situation needs more intensive therapy, but he doesn't seem to get that from the VA. We have him in private care because the VA is more than inadequate. My experiences in this are quite personal and upfront. There are therapies that are assistive and some require intense involvement. Do many mental illnesses also require meds...yep, my son's is one of those...but it requires more than just a pill...pills don't work magic...even my ADHD medication isn't magic...it works fantastically, but it isn't the only answer.

That’s quite a load of words, but appears to boil down to more “intensive therapy” than (you or?) your insurance is willing (and able?) to pay for.
