MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell Announces He's Launching 'MyStore,' a Patriotic Rival to Amazon https://www.newsweek.com/mypillow-c...nching-mystore-patriotic-rival-amazon-1583037

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell on Monday announced that he's launching "MyStore," an online marketplace for entrepreneurs that will rival Amazon, the largest global internet-based store.

Speaking on Steve Bannon's War Room: Pandemic, Lindell said, "I'm looking at another thing we're going to be launching, which is MyStore, which is a rival to Amazon."

Currently, a version of MyStore is on the MyPillow website, featuring a range of patriotic and miscellaneous products, including "Freedom Flags," "Freedom Coffee," "USA Flag Pole," and conservative books about former President Donald Trump.

Lindell boasted that his online store will include a range of products from "entrepreneurs and investors" in a video shared on the site.

"For years entrepreneurs and inventors have come to me with products and ideas. They don't know how to market them and I haven't had the time to show them. And now today, I am proud to announce this platform called MyStore.com," he said in the clip. "I am going to put vetted products from great entrepreneurs on here, like you see a sampling of them here today, that are going to change this country."

He added: "We're finally going to be able to see these products and be able to get these great entrepreneurs, their great ideas, out to you, the public."

The section of MyStore on the MyPillow website appears to have been added over two years ago. In October 2019, Lindell promoted the platform at the Made In America 2019 event.

It is unclear how the new version of MyStore will differ from the existing. Newsweek reached out to MyPillow representatives for further information about the development of MyStore.

After being banned from Twitter for promoting inaccurate election theories, Lindell announced in early March that he will be launching a new social media platform called Frank, which he claims to have been working on for several years. The site is scheduled to launch April 20 after delays.

On Saturday, Lindell sent out an email promoting his upcoming conspiracy theory documentary, Absolute Interference, which will also be released April 20. Since Trump lost the White House to Joe Biden last year, Lindell has repeatedly promoted baseless claims that the 2020 election was stolen by the Democrats.

"Mike Lindell presents Absolute Interference," the promotional email for the new video said. "The sequel to Absolute Proof with new evidence foreign & domestic enemies used computers to hack the 2020 election." Absolute Proof was released this February.

Jeff Bezos will probably peed his pants laughing if he reads this story.

If he offers the products enough people want to buy ar a price that is reasonable then he should be successful. If he is hoping his and trumps name is enough to make the businesse succeed without offering what people want then it will fail

I wish him the best. The man is likely going to have to pay a great deal in damages for his defamation suit settlement.

Of course, I would like to see Amazon’s e-commerce monopoly broken up. In a market in which Amazon was split into twenty to thirty different companies, a company like MyStore would be able to sink or swim on its merits (or lack thereof) rather than due to Amazon’s far-reaching anti-competitive practices and market capture.

Just because they are the biggest doesn’t make them a monopoly. You can buy stuff at other places in the internet. For example most everything you can get on Amazon you can get on eBay too. Sometimes even at a better price.

Anyway I wish him the best as well. That’s what’s great about America. Even a loon can chase the American dream.

Well I think your read for what constitute monopoly is a bit narrow, Pocket Aces. Most people believe that unless you control an entire market or sector of the market, you are not a monopoly. But it is not the number of players, but your weight in the market. If there are a hundred competing companies in a given market, but one company controls 90%, that company has effective monopoly power. But it does not have to be that overt. Up until the 1960s, our government was breaking up companies controlling less than 5% of the market share in a given industry in order to prevent them from radically expanding and taking over the market to the detriment of consumers, workers, and communities.

He's blowing all his cash before he's broken in the Dominion suit. He's not on the brink of greatness, he's on the brink of ruin. This is his one last party.

He might as well be announcing a space program with free flights for "patriotic Americans". It's a fantasy and he probably knows it. He's going broke. He already went for broke and he got it. The ride is over.

He cannot recover from "I welcome the suit. I have 100% proof." It was on national television. The damage is in the tens of millions or more. There's no amount a jury will not award.

It's just sad.

I wonder if he will have a recurring purchase button that presses itself like Mr. One and dones site?

I think its a splendid idea and one that is overdue. I can see a market for the theme he is promoting. He is offering conservatives an alternative to the woke corporate products. This is the correct response to the Baizuo (knew some of you would of been disappointed if I had not slipped that word in my post somewhere lol) culture war.

I wish him the best of luck in his venture.

Only a Trumper could see this news and think the possibility of his success is the first discussion. Others note the false premise. Trumpers don't care if there's a false premise. They'll pretend everything is fine and the MyPatrioticAsshole will be a huge success.

But the cult cannot save him. He is utterly financially doomed.

So it will be the racist friendly, conspiracy nutters welcoming version of an informercial shop? A kind of QVC for Trumpers, Qanoner's, born again GOP's and right wing media outlets, but then in a layout stolen from either Amazon or Alibaba?

There is also Etsy and Alibaba

It seems he either completely misunderstands what has made Amazon so successful or he is fully aware but using the false "rival to Amazon" angle as just a marketing ploy. Amazon got were it is by expanding to offer a massive range of products all around the world. A platform with a specific "patriotic" angle, focusing on vetting and promoting new products could certainly be successful but it would in no way be in the same market as Amazon, let alone any kind of rival.

I see some companies in the market have figured out how to compete with Amazon. For example Wayfair seems to have become a success by finding a niche (furniture and home goods) and doing it better than Amazon.

if i were trying to knock off Amazon i'd probably not announce it. it would be years/decades of planning, marketing and laying the groundwork (infrastructure, advertising, sales, B2B, distribution, etc).

and is he going after AWS too???

After seeing the goods he's selling on MyStore, it's not Amazon that should be concerned, it's the Dollar$Store
