My wife cried last weekend when the landscapers (Hispanics) were here installing mulch. Because...

Same company for years and this is the first time she ever saw them as "people?" Individuals? Wow.
That's not true and you totally missed the point (given this political atmosphere).

She's worried about what all people LIKE them, hispanics, or going to go through and where they're going to end up. Not this specific crew.

Hell, it's not even the same crew from last year.

They see a Hispanic mowing the grass and their first thought is his last name is Garcia and he’s come to rob their trailer.
My first reaction was why would that guy's wife be asking HIM what's going to happen to " "people "like" them" ".
After all, he thought up and posted that lame allegory.

I believe they call that "progress".

Seems like it. Did it take recent high visibility in the media to make someone look at other people as...people? Or realize they might be representative of many other people?

I wrote it based off of what you wrote. Had she had any personal contact with them previously? You made it sound like she hadnt.

And that matters? People show up and work for you and you dont offer them drinks? Say hello? Tip at holidays? Etc?

"Like them" tells everyone all they need to know about the views people like that express.

Some people didn't look at others as people, as long as they serve them.

It's only when they stop being able to save them that some people become upset...
