I know what you are thinking. Why would anyone who describes President Obama as the one term Marxist president Obama want to develop a plan to save his presidency? It is a good question. I don't. But I believe the one term president, ahem, well, you know, Obama will return from his latest vacation ready to spend money. He will want our approval, not really ours, but whatever he can get (away with) to spend another trillion dollars.
Here is the plan I believe he is going to offer.
I believe he will make the case that every town, every city, every county, every state, needs more cowboy poetry. But, without a prize not every town, every city, every county or every state will participate. What is a President to do? I believe he will offer the top 250 winners, the very best cowboy poets, an all expenses paid, fully functional, built to the latest plans, nuclear power plant for their town, city, county or state. He can declare a holiday from all of the regulations designed to hinder, to impede, to bankrupt, to stop nuclear power plants and decree that these will all be built over the next two years. He can set aside 90 days for entries to be received and judged, maybe by some suitable television show. While that is occurring the money can begin flowing to engineering companies to update their drawings, rerun calculations and analysis, in order to develop the best possible plant design.
As contestants win they can identify the optimal location for their new plant. As they already use eminent domain for improper purposes many will know how to use it to take the property necessary for the plant and its electrical grid right of ways.
At the six month mark he can preside over the first groundbreaking ceremonies. In fact as there will be 250 of them he won't even need to campaign. He can just make a small speech describing the role he has played in bringing jobs, green, non-polluting jobs to the nations heartland. He will win in a landslide.
He can borrow, print and spend his trillion. The wealth of the nation will increase considerably. He will generate well paying jobs all over the nation. He will revitalize our education system by creating a steady demand for engineers of all types for a decade or more. He will create thousands of supporting jobs of all types. The people will laud him above even FDR and JFK.
