So my company just sent an email to all employees in my region. The summary of it is...

  • If you are vaccinated, you are excused from wearing a mask while in the office (but you must still wear one in meeting rooms (if one or more people there are not fully vaccinated) or in hallways)
  • If you are unvaccinated or in the middle of being vaccinated, you must wear a mask full time, except for when you are eating
  • You will be issued a badge to indicate whether or not you are vaccinated
  • If you are caught without a mask and without a badge, you will be sent home and open to disciplinary action
  • You are not allowed to harass anyone if they are making a different choice, but any violation should be dealt with by HR instead
This procedure does not violate EEOC rules per HR and Safety/ergonomics departments assessment (in consultation with legal I assume).

I work for a top global company that has their stuff together (legally) so if they are doing this, I strongly any other company is well within their rights to follow suit.

So get ready for your new badge at work folks!

that last phrase is why any mask policy is profoundly stupid. You're allowed to spread the virus when you're eating. Are you required to eat in private not meaning you're allowed to be in a lunch room with other people every other policy made about masks is null and void.

The virus doesn't just go on pause because you're eating so it's not about the virus it's about a virtue signal.

Apparently the 'all or nothing' 'black and white' crowd still flail helplessly, unable to undertsand that limiting and minimizing make a large, cumulative difference. I wonder if it's something they are not providing in math classes in grammar school? Maybe we need to introduce 'logic' classes early on? I know that the expectations for critical thinking tend to come later in our education system.

Unfortunately, private industry employees don't have a lot of rights. But it does seem this is a reasonable attempt to ensure employee safety.

What private (or other) business wouldnt want to put into place legal practices to protect the greatest number of employees to preserve the greatest productivity?

You're trying to make a point based upon absolutist terms, when what's being done is minimizing risk. Not 'ensuring risk free', but rather 'minimizing risk'. Letting unvaccinated employees eat without a mask doesn't sound unreasonable. Though I surely wouldn't want to eat with them knowingly!

Voluntary slavery, allowing your employer to make your life-death decisions. Circumcision reduces certain diseases and cancers - and lessens spreading infections. All that could take an employee off of work for a while and increase insurance premiums. Maybe your company should have a badge for you to wear that and if you aren't circumcised you must wear some form of chastity belt the company has a key to.

Besides, your company doesn't require face shields so they don't really care.

All it requires is an understanding of fractions.

I don't see how large companies can avoid this. Under OSHA rules employees can refuse unsafe work and precautions against a raging infectious disease shows the company has done due diligence toward keeping the workplace safer.

They are doing the badge thing at my employment for in office workers returning back but I still get to stay at home. 😏

Exactly.

But there has to be reasonable accommodation for those whom vaccination is medically contraindicated. It seems the policy handles that, by letting them wear a mask.

It's a pretty smart and easily monitored & enforced policy. You will either wear a badge or a mask, for all to see.

Yeah, I was working from home 100% of the time before the pandemic anyway, but I thought it was interesting news to report to the forum.

Exactly. The employers, by law, must ensure a safe workplace.

Slaves don't get paid. Employers are obligated to maintain a safe workplace.

Inappropriate comparison. An uncircumcised male doesn't make the workplace less safe.
Besides, your company doesn't require face shields so they don't really care.
Sometimes they do, where there's a risk that can be mitigated by face shields. Labs for example. In the case of Covid a face shield is unnecessary.

They require face shields in the product development labs, but that's not a COVID thing.

That's the reason for "voluntary."

So you dispute that virus can enter thru the eyes and that Fauci and the other experts are wrong about face shields?

Does your company also have an influenza (flu) vaccine badge or wear a mask rule?

What is the method used to prove vaccination?

Exactly.

Yes, and that is why EVERYONE else is supposed to be vaccinated or masked...because there will always be people in a society that cannot be vaccinated or may bring it home to infants, elderly, susceptible, etc.

And that's the goal for reaching herd immunity...a better chance of protecting those that cannot be vaccinated.

Gotta love it and for my industry, most of them will not be going back to an office-based model anymore. It was pretty flexible before and will remain even moreso.

So you dispute that virus can enter thru the eyes and that Fauci and the other experts are wrong about face shields?
That vector of entry is generally introduced by hands touching the eyes.
Does your company also have an influenza (flu) vaccine badge or wear a mask rule?
I'm retired. But the company I worked for is a Fortune 500 and likely has or will institute similar precautions.

And they may be available if requested.

But also, he may be another that had difficulty with fractions in school too.
