My kind of sanctuary city

"Didn't want to be identified."

We have a secret police now?
Why, did you want to DOX him?
Do you think the agent wants a bunch of wacko's that don't respect the law on his doorstep?

They are respecting the law because the Constitution says Immigration control is a federal matter. The reason sanctuary cities exist is because if local police help the feds arrest immigrants, their immigrant population will be too afraid to assist them with carrying out the law.

<multiple laughing smiley faces>

A Homeland Security Investigations special agent, who didn’t want to be identified, confirmed the arrests.

“We’re executing a criminal search warrant at the location that we just completed, so we’re getting out,” the agent said.

"I'm sorry. Your dinner is going to be delayed. I can't say how long. But they are serving right away over at McDonalds..."

Yeah....secret police.

Curious. What do you say about those who point out it’s sanctuary cities that are the ones who have no respect for the law, immigration laws as they’re the ones harboring law breakers preventing law enforcement from doing their job? Enforcing the law.
Failing to actively assist ICE is not harboring. It's just not assisting ICE.

Would that be a function of ICE or the police? I'd have no problem with that and a stiff fine as well, perhaps enough to pay for deportations.
How about imprisonment? Americans who hire illegal immigrants are the biggest part of the problem.

Illegals come here primarily for work to improve their lives and that of their families. If there were no jobs here for them, they would not come. We need to make these job dry up. The most efficient way to accomplish this is, rather than arrest the barefoot immigrant, make him an offer. In exchange for identifying the person who hires them, they get a pathway to citizenship.

Then we prosecute those who hire illegals, give them long prison sentences and heavy fines. Make it just too risky to hire an illegal. The jobs would dry up, the immigrants would not come.

Every ICE raid must include arresting the person(s) who hire, manage, or supervise the workers. That person needs to pay their debt to society.

This of course, assumes that illegal immigration is this massive problem, that brown people in general are the problems that keep America from being great.

Provide examples.
Hell, they're still insisting an election was stolen from trump with no proof at all. Examples? Repeating lie after lie are their examples. I do not understand their attitude towards America and other americans? What do they think they are defending?

Hmm. Okay, there’s nothing stating that local authorities must accompany or help in the iCE raids. But isn’t if an illegal immigrant is arrested by local authorities their job, duty to turn that illegal over to the federal authorities under federal law which I assume the state and local authorities must obey. I also assume anyone helping an illegal could be charged with aiding and abetting a criminal under federal law. It seems to me local and state authorities which classify themselves as sanctuary cities and states are also defying federal laws and suthorities.

I use the word assume a lot as I’m not sure.

Nope. They have to notify the feds that they have the person in custody.

If ICE is too lazy to come get them, that's their own fault.

How about aiding and abetting if not harboring. At least defying federal law if federal authorities requested cooperation or if which I don’t know, if federal law requires state and local authorities to turnover fugitives wanted by the federal government.

I would think it would be their job to try the defendant for breaking the law.

You see, Trump has us all hopped up on targeting undocumented immigrants. He has convinced many of us that their paperwork issues are of paramount importance and everyone in society should be focusing on what we can do every minute of our lives to remove this scourge from our society.

But quite frankly, many people have more important things to worry about than his war on immigrants and on the law.

The local police are certainly among them.

Jesus, you tribalists.
Why do you think secret police are secret...at any time? The same reason you give as an excuse. Doesn't make them any less "secret police".

How about aiding and abetting if not harboring.
Nope. Failing to assist over and above statute is not a punishable offense.

Again, the intake software automatically informs ICE that a suspected illegal has been detained. If ICE doesn't act on that, or even on a person-to-person phone call, then that's ICE's fault.

According to @Luce this happens all the time.

You know they've got nothing but lies when they don't (can't) provide examples to back up their claims.

Like what happens to judges that Trump doxes?
