I would be interested to see who each of us sees as the best candidate for 2008, based entirely on the individual....not on the party. This may help us all contemplate the future of Two Party Politics in this country, and perhaps even shed light on the actual reasons we vote.....I hope. I do request a small Bio, or some reasoning as to the choice, partially to allow me to research each candidate chosen.

My Candidate will be forthcoming.

I don't have a candidate in mind right now. I would like to see someone who can bring this country back together.
I am waiting to see who either party or independent brings forth.

I have to say KCC: I took a look at your boy and I guess I shouldn't be surprised but he is way too ultra-conservative. At least he probably wouldn't be the whipping boy of the radical right that we have now.

I went to his website and then linked over to the voting record and looked at his stance. I'm willing to look at anyone I am not familiar with. But I personally disagreed with almost every one of his positions.

I would like to see either party or independent nominate someone who is more in sync with the American public.

Gulliani would be a good candidate, McCain wouldn't be bad either. Dem side, Obama.

Right on jfuh. I would love to see Obama run. He would definitely bring a lot of energy to the election. Problem is, too many racists in this country that would make this race really ugly (for you right-wingers, I recognize that a lot of you would not vote for him because of his politics and thats ok....don't want you to think I am implying that anyone who would not support him is a racist. Just so we are clear).

He would never run. Being a jr. Senator I think he is content doing what he is doing at this point.

Now I know I picked the right guy. Thanks, disney.

For the Democrats, the best choices are Mark Warner and Evan Bayh. They're progressive on cultural issues, business-friendly, and tell the socialist wing of their party to **** off.

For the Republicans, the best choice is John McCain. He's progressive on economic issues, reasonable on foreign policy, and tells the religious fundamentalist wing of his party to **** off.

He condemns the far right and the far left for their partisan politics. My kind of candidate!

Even if I liked Obama I would not vote for him..Like Edwards to inexperienced....Maybe VP but that is it......

My choice would be George Allen too.....I think he would kick *** and take names be it republican or democrat.........

Newt Gingrich--the man that continued Reagan's Republican Revolution with his Contract for America. It's really a toss up between Newt and Mitt Romney the governor of Massachusetts. Mitt has just implemented an ingenious health care plan in Mass. McCain is way too wishy washy as he caters to the liberal media. Stick with Newt and Mitt.

Not conservative enough?

***Exactly! McCain's PTSD has unfortunately given him the qualities of pacifying the massess by playing both sides of the coin. The McCain/Feingold financing bill was a perfect example of his moderate view on politics. True Conservatives despise him on this issue. That's why the Republican base would never support his candidacy. Another moderate similar to McCain is Chuck Hagel of Nebraska. No chance for either to get the republican backing.

Sure, he looks less conservative than other republicans, but that's what he believes in, it's not because he wants to "pacify" the masses. If he wanted to get more of a chance for a bid in 2008 he'd try to look more conservative if anything, so the republican base will support him (which he is kind of doing).

It's a battle to look conservative. Bush isn't conservative, they say he's a "big government conservative," that's not conservatism! If Reagan was alive he'd kick his @$$.

If it's a true conservative you want, I think you're screwed. I know I am.
