Las Vegas police are telling people to avoid the area around the Mandalay Bay Casino due to reports of an active shooter. Las Vegas Metro Police issued the warning in a post on Twitter early Monday.

Multiple people with gunshot wounds have been taken to the University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to hospital spokeswoman Danita Cohen.

Just tragic. I am already seeing on twitter unconfirmed casualties (+30???) and automatic gunfire. Another senseless shooting. I pray for the victims and those on the streets.

I saw the videos. It sounded like a machine gun. Apparently, there are several dead bodies on the streets.

Holy... That Daily Mail video is rough. Warning, guys.

Right now the updates say one gunman is dead and was shooting from above, and they aren't confirming if there's a second.

It looks bad.....You'd have to think the toll will rise....Appears the shooter (shooters???) fired from a hotel across the street....This looks like a terrorist attack....

As mentioned 2 gun men is very rare.....Reports are the shooter is dead...I'd have to think the casualties will be in the dozens.....Another act of madness

Las Vegas is a Sanctuary City. I wouldn't be surprised.

It is good seeing Americans helping other Americans during times of tragedy.

When I was involved in a shooting, I was more concerned with the people around me than my own safety.

Well it appears "somebody" acquired a high powered automatic weapon to act out this madness......It was only one shooter and he is dead...Police to hold press conference soon

The sounds of the weapons fire in the video sounded quite a bit like an AK / SKS series.

Just finished watching the press briefing: 20+dead 100+injured.

The shooter was firing down into a crowd from the 32nd floor. The concert was across the street from the casino. Apparently it was specifically timed so that the shooting took place at the end of the show. This caused people to think that the shooting was simply part of the fireworks and slowed down the audience reaction.

I have friends there from Australia on an end of season football trip. Horrific situation being reported here. Very early reports are over 20 dead, over a hundred injured, 30 critical. With it being still very early on I can only imagine the actual numbers will increase. 1 shooter dead, police looking for a female known to him. Too early to say much more.

Beyond awful. Thoughts with all involved.

20 confirmed killed will probably rise to 40-50....Shooter was a Las Vegas resident, acted alone...What would make a local resident do this?...Had a Asian woman is a roommate...No other details given...Another act of insanity....
