Multiple Texas Farms Shut Down After ‘Almost 100%’ Of Workforce Vanishes Overnight

Because virtually every economic action by Trump causes inflation, at some point one has to wonder why he likes higher prices.

And how did inflation become a rallying cry in MAGA world?

"No pain, no gain."
I would go with something like...
1. All non citizens who have entered the country illegally who self deport by exiting at a designated cross point would be given a document which would allow them, after a week or longer to use that document to gain legal entry as a non-immigrant, with permission to work, which could be extended every 3 months at an immigration office.
2.They would be given an electronic photo ID card for identification purposes, which must be carried at all times for identification and employment purposes.
3. Any non-citizen who does not possess such ID card OR a valid passport and current visa would be subject to due process involving either a fine and/or deportation as determined by ICE.
4. No one who entered or enters the U.S. illegally will be allowed to remain in the country until they have entered the country legally going forward.

In addition I would place signs along the border stating that "All those who enter illegally will be sought and deported, with no exceptions."
This requires Congress approval and how much are you going to charge and how are you going to manage to process a new worker permit every three months? Current wait time for any U visa is between 2 and 10 years, T visa 2 years, vistor visas are at least a year. 1-130 is between 14 months and 20 years depending on who the relative is.
All of these petitions require an attorney that costs $10,000 or more and most immigration forms are right around $1000 just to apply.
So, explain how you will miraculously get them to overnight decide petitions and then renew every 3 months?
shrug...up to them, but they could have started a long time ago with following the law.
By re enacting slavery? We have used immigrants for agricultural labor since the founding of the country. Mexicans at one point didn’t even need permission they just came and went home at the end of the season

Those who enter illegally would be deported.
Those who have entered legally, but have overstayed would be fined, or fined and deported unable to reenter legally for a predetermined period or permanently.
By creating a process by which non-immigrants can enter legally for an extendable period of time and become legally employed, I would then support levying a stiff fine for employing any person not legally entitled to work.

This issue, like most every issue, can easily be resolved both rationally, reasonably, and more or less permanently.

Illegal entry to the country is illegal, deportation is the exercise of due process in ALL instances. Perhaps ICE should be who handles the census going forward as well.
Can we assume that you do not support the idea of prosecuting and incarerating employers who hire illegals?

What I've suggested is basically what I've been doing for nearly 40 years where I live. It takes about 10-15 minutes every 90 days to accomplish, and I pay a small fee (about $50) each year.
Why do you want something more complicated than what I've suggested?

No forms are processed and decided by USCIS in 10 to 15 minutes. None only cost $50 either

What’s the gain here? If you don’t mind my asking.

I think now is probably a good time to start buying some rice, canned food, and bottled water.

Those who entered the U.S. illegally, would become legally allowed to enter and work as long as they continue to abide the laws allowing them to remain.

You do realize that would have to passed into law by Congress, right? Again, how are you going to accomplish renewing visas every three months when almost all processing times are well over 1 year?

These people would not be immigrants but temporary visitors allowed to work.

Why would a 3 month extension need to take well over 1 year to process?

It still has to be passed by Congress and processed by USCIS

More to the point, one party in Congress has *zero* interest in temporary guest worker visa programs or improving the system of legal immigration. They get elected over and over again by exploiting this issue and by exploiting the ignorance and fears of the common voter, and they will keep doing so until it causes so much damage that the American voter finally figures out who the real criminals are (the ones they keep electing to office in red states).

Then until that is done, deportation of those who entered illegally should continue.

Guess you're not familiar with the federal bureaucracy.
I used to take some Monks to the immigration office to extend their visas, never had to wait unless it was lunch time.

By law all applications go to a processing center used by USCIS. They process the applications it isn’t decided by the person at a local office. I agree it shouldn’t take so long, but it does and with budget cuts incoming those processing times will get longer and forms more expensive

Which is why I pointed out it has to be passed into law by Congress

Was that 40 or so years ago? You no longer go to a local office for anything but an interview for marriage based adjustment or check ins

Religious worker immigration to the U.S. is facing significant backlogs, particularly for those seeking green cards through the EB-4 visa category. While R-1 nonimmigrant visas for temporary religious work have standard processing times, the process for obtaining a green card (permanent residency) through the EB-4 category is experiencing delays, potentially stretching wait times to several years or even a decade.

Something similar to an expedited M-1 visa could be added for those who have been employed in the U.S. and can show they will continue to be employed when they return.

That visa still takes weeks to months and you still haven’t explained how you are going to get the approval thru Congress

These would be temporary non-immigrant work visas, which should if granted only remain valid while they remain employed or 90 days maximum, and should be extendable by showing they remain employed or will be employed every 90 days.
No need to make it more complicated than what is necessary.

Again you haven’t answered how you will get Congress to agree? You do understand they have to approve this, right?
We don’t have the USCIS staff to process applications in house.
