More stupid people. (gdgyva will like this)

If you sign on to a home owners association, you have to do what they say. It's all laid out in the contract. They don't want you to have junked cars parked on your lawn for example.

Now, if the home owners association didn't ban the PR flag in the contract, he can tell them to **** off.

The difference is they allow plenty of other flags. If you allow those there should be no problem with the PR flag. My guess is the moron who sent the notice doesn't even no that Puerto Rico is owned by the US and their people are US citizens. I hope he took pictures of every other flag being flown. That is the first thing I would do.

When I meet people who fly Mexican or Puerto Rican flags in the states I ask them if Mexico or Puerto Rico is so wonderful why did you leave.

Puerto Rico is a U.S Territory, by the way. Not a foreign country like Mexico.

The interesting thing here is the association making a stink about one particular flag when there are others which are for sports teams or in support of police. They did mention not allowing flying state flags and the flags of other countries, so that's where they could have a leg to stand on.

the article said:
The rule was first flagged by a woman who informed Frances Santiago it was a necessary edict because “past owners spoiled it by putting up too many flags.”

Weird that you wouldn't just make a rule about the number of flags flown versus the type of flag.

Do you ask that when you see Irish and Italian flags being flown? While people may have left their countries for better opportunities elsewhere, the culture and people are still a bond that many cherish.

The next time I see non New Jersey or New York flags I'm going to ask the offenders why the heck they left their states if those states are so wonderful.

As that appears to be an HOA that allows other flags, then the 'someone' that left the letter there is a moron.

That being said...because 1 anonymous 'someone' left a letter, we will now engage in a pooh flinging session to show how racist everyone is.

No, why would I? Those places aren't basket cases like PR and Mexico.

If they're celebrating their heritage, then it's quite likely both of those countries were "basket cases" at the the time their ancestors immigrated here. Plenty of European migration was due to those countries going through some type of mismanagement or instability; in other words "sh*t holes". You should at least try to be consistent because your question still applies to people flying Irish or Italian flags; it's even more pertinent because those countries are doing fairly well (Ireland anyway) so perhaps they should go back if they miss it so much.

Experience tells me that someone who purports to say things like you’re doing now, lack the nerve to actually do so.

Apparently some flags are better than others. I hate home owners associations.

Army vet’s Puerto Rican flag ticks off Kissimmee HOA

Agreed

I HATE HOA's

They are evil wannabe people of power

We will never live in an HOA development again....EVER

in this case....fly the flag, and let a judge settle the dispute....

i bet she wins the case....

especially if she has pictures of the others in the neighborhood flying the flags of sports teams, and other assorted crap

take the HOA to small claims court

Sure. It's when it transforms into a celebration of the superiority of one group over another that I become concerned.

Do you view it in a positive light when white southerners fly the confederate flag to celebrate their heritage?

It's funny. In general the folks who live in gated communities are the people who are most afraid of their fellow americans.

I live in flori-duh, not far from 'the villages' who represent themselves as florida's friendliest home town. I would say it's ninety nine point nine percent white and a republican stronghold. Trump was supposed to be there last week but I don't think he made it. Any serious republican candidate MUST come to the villages.

This is the trump's supporters of ideal america. One huge white gated community. It's so big it's into three different counties. And most of them act entitled. What's even more odd, it's a retirement community and many had union jobs when they were working and many are veterans who seem to have forgotten they worked union jobs and are supposed to protect the constitution. Not shred it.

Because they should recognize that they're in the USA now, right?

Sure do

It positively identifies them as morons, who hate America

I bet you do the same on St Patrick's when folks born in South Boston claim to be Irish and fly the Irish flag.

Lol, wait, that's different right?

Sent from the Matrioshka in the WH Christmas tree.

I guess you didn't read my disclaimer about it not being a celebration of superiority of one group over another. Try harder.

Are you saying anyone who flies a Confederate flag is a white supremacist?

Nope, but given the loaded symbolism behind that flag it doesn't make much sense to run that risk if I were a southerner. What specific aspects of that heritage are they celebrating; and how does one separate the fact part of it was the support of slavery?
