Pitchers and catchers report for the first five teams today (STL, ARI, SF, PHI, CIN), so now's as good a time as any to start this off.

Pretty excited to see the revamped DBacks this year. With the pick-up of Zack Greinke, Shelby Miller, and Tyler Clippard the pitching staff is much improved.

They can definitely threaten. They played a few games below their pythag last year (meaning they were actually probably a few games better than their 79-83 record indicates), and Greinke alone can add another 5 wins to that.

My personal goal for them is 7 games over .500 and to just make some decent moves to improve the club for the long haul. I believe the triumvirate of La Russa, Stewart, and Hale will prove to be very solid for the club.

Mets open up in Kansas City?!?! Sometimes I just can't understand MLB. I love the game, but at times they do the dumbest, stupidest things. The 2 teams that went to the WS open up the year playing interleague games, in early April? Oh yeah, the opening game is at night! Great idea, open up in KC in April at night. lol

Barry Bonds looks good! I still can't believe he's not in the HOF.

Cheaters find it difficult to get into the HOF. Baseball doesn't award cheaters like other sports.

Well, at least two teams must play inter league at all times.
I'm more interested in how both teams have retooled for this year--I'd say KC and SF look best in that regard.

And no, I don't buy into the AZ hype so far--Atlantis Reno opened them with 84.5 wins.
Grienke has to face everyone's #1 now---no longer hiding behind Kershaw---he's gone from a pitcher's to a hitter's ballpark.

NY isn't the most comfy venue in early April either.
And yes, I do look forward to these two teams playing early.
The NFL likes to do it on opening Thursday and it's been great for ratings.

I can. He's a cheat like Sosa, Palmero, McGuire etc. Mr. Big Head belongs in a hall with bars.

Greinke is a weasel. He won't be able to put together another year like last year. The dodgers are a pitching organization, the diamonbacks have a pool in their outfiield.

The way the weather has been this year it could be 70 and beautiful. Or snow showers. LOL

Which is the envy of the entire league.

Always good to see my NYM friend back and active.
My Cubs are way overrated. :lamo

I'll need to look at the 30 schedules before I condemn MLB.
But, it does seem they have scheduled too many games in bad-weather cities in the past in April.
While you'll hear that warm-weather and dome cities complain they shouldn't have to pay the price of low attendance in April.

One road trip I'm looking to is the NATs at SL(3), KC(3), and CHC(4) from 4/29 to 5/8.

Right now, there's a good NATs story 6th headline down--plenty of Met's headlines also.
Recaps of the six divisions, what did they gain and what did they lose, is now on the 6th page--headlines 251-300--and keeps changing .

I didn't even know the Mets opened in KC before reading this thread. I have been working on my fantasy league. Rizzo and Bryant are at the top of my list. I like the Cubbies but that OF could cost them some defensively. Schwarber is a joke in left, we will see how Heyward handles center and Soler is average at best in right. Should be fun to watch.

The Mets should rock. Best staff in the majors. Not including Wheeler and Edjin coming back from Tommy John. Eric Campbell and John Mayberry won't be hitting in the middle of the line up anymore either.

The NFL does it in early September, summer time. MLB doing it in early April, in a city that could possibly still have really bad winter like weather, and AT NIGHT! Nope. IMO it's a bad move by MLB.

I wonder when the St. Louis Cardinals are going to be punished for hacking?

Seems like Rob Manfred is taking a lot of time compared to Roger Goodell.

Pablo Sandoval is a disgrace!

It feels like he stole money from Boston. Have some pride in your work and get in shape.

He was a fatso in SF as well ... that's the main reason the Giants let him walk. Boston knew what they were getting.

It's an even year so the Giants are going to win the WS. But even though the drama is spoiled we can still have fun here talking baseball. ;)

Just wanted to drop in and say hi to all the DP baseball fans. Hope you all have a fun season and your team does well, except when they're playing mine.

I'm looking forward to the Jays this season, considering how 2015 ended, although I'm not real happy with the transfer of Cleveland's front office to ours and the seeming small market mentality that's come with it. As the third largest city in the league, with a market of 30 million plus Canadians, we should be in the top five in spending in all of baseball, not languishing in the middle. Not signing David Price and allowing Boston to get him is an example of cheap, small minded leadership.

The possibility of not signing both Bautista and Encarnacion is also bothering me. Jose Bautista is what the Jays are - no other player, even Donaldson from last year means as much to the Jays as Bautista does - at least in my view. And Goose Gossage is an imbecile for suggesting Bautista is a disgrace to baseball and to Latin players - he's one of baseball's great stars and the Latin players love him and the way he plays.

Anyway, at least for this year we've got by far the strongest offense in baseball and our pitching is looking pretty good - should be fun.
