nswering a question about whether or not he thought abortion should be legal in the case of rape, Akin explained his opposition by citing unnamed bodily responses he said prevented pregnancy.
"First of all, from what I understand from doctors, that's really rare," Akin said of rape-induced pregnancy in an interview with KTVI. A clip of the interview was posted online by the liberal super PAC American Bridge.
"If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down," Akin continued. He did not provide an explanation for what constituted "legitimate rape."
He isn't just any Missouri Republican, he is their candidate for senate.
And, get this, he sits on the House's science and technology committee. They figure this guy is who should be setting our nation's science policy.
surprise its missouri,in line with mississipi, did anyone expect anything better.
A lot of conservative men will support his "science."

I love the south. I love the Tea Party even more. Never ending humor.
Well, you can certainly bet that the Democratic senate candidate from Missouri isn't as dumb, right?
Maybe, I wonder if anyone ever thought you could tip over an island by landing people on one side. That would be worse, right?

It is a stupid argument politically. But I recall back in the good old days when I worked at PP and spent every saturday morning for a couple years arguing with the RIght to Lifers and the Operation Rescue bible thumpers-this issue would come up constantly and I finally talked to a top OB/GYN and She noted that violent rape is far less likely to cause pregnancy than consensual sex. Now that was almost 40 years ago and I have no clue if that is still something she would say-she died about 20 years ago
Well if it where true, I am sure you could document it.
Well, I guess it's time for me to sound like the Kenyan's spin machine.
What the guy meant was an actual rape versus a claimed rape.
Now tell me that the above isn't what the Dims would say if one of their boys had made that stupid comment.

The Democratic Senate candidate from Missouri is a woman, so she won't see sex from a mans point of view.
Wow. You didn't even understand what was wrong about his comment did you?
however, I am not as pro feminist as one might think.
Wow. You didn't even understand my post did you?

TD, I don't think you were ever in any danger of anybody thinking you were a feminist. Or that you supported the rights of anybody other than yourself really.

Her death was likely due to a republican strategist who relied on her ideas and was afraid she was going to recant them.
