Candidate burns actual library books. What is the maximum crime for arson of government property?

A GOP candidate in Missouri is literally playing with fire in her quest to rid local libraries of books she claims are nefariously attempting to “groom” children.

Valentina Gomez, a 24-year-old running for Missouri’s Secretary of State, shared a video of herself Tuesday on X using a flamethrower to torch a stack of library books about the LGBTQ+ community.

“This is what I will do to grooming books when I become Secretary of State,” Gomez says in the video, which was posted on X, as intense rap music plays in the background.

After torching the two books Gomez notes, “These books come from a Missouri Public Library.”

“When I am in office, they will burn,” she adds before the video shows a picture of her holding a large gun.

One of the books Gomez burned was “Naked: Not Your Average Sex Encyclopedia” written by Myriam Daguzan Bernier. “Naked” is described on Amazon as “essential reading” that will provide “answers to questions about sexuality that teens have always had but have been afraid to ask.”

Some Republicans get elected just by carrying around their Ar15 etc in their advertising. Short skirts and cowboy boats plus the Ar in MTG's case. The guy with the flamethrower must be eyeing up a run for president at least. And burning LGBTQ books as well, hell he might have even been running for a position as the 2nd coming of Jesus if Trump didn't have that one tied up already.
Damn this nation is pitiful sometimes!

Vote for my 24-year-old brain for Secretary of State because I will break the law with a flamethrower to protect your children from books in your library!

For a small fee I'll come to your house and burn your evil books!

My first reaction to this news "Flamethrowers are legal? What a country!" (not in a good way)

Then it occurred to me that a GOP candidate might not entirely act within the law ar all times.

In a few months she'll be caught in a sex scandal with a married couple.

A Democratic married couple.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Too bad she didn't drop a nuclear bomb on them for good measure. What an idiot.

This needs to lead to her arrest.

She destroyed books that belong to a library. She needs to be charged for that and she needs t serve time.
I think she's smart enough to just pay for the books. She should do time for the flamethrower.

Why was she doing that?
Cause in Missouri we don't need none of Dem Commie Pinko Machines! We hand count like God and the Chicago Machine intended!*

*Translation: I do not venture into the depths of MAGA madness....

Heinrich Heine, "those who burn books will in the end burn people."

Absolutely correct. People signal what they would like to do to their enemies if they have the opportunity. Give them the opportunity to burn books, they'll burn books. Give them the opportunity to burn people, they'll burn people.

My only takeaway from the video is that she is running for a seat in Missouri and she is Hispanic with a noticeable accent. So can MO voters really look past her heritage and hear the "book-burning" message? Only 4.8% of the population in MO is Hispanic. Regardless of how far-right she is, will this resonate with them?

Before someone burns me for being racist, I lived in Miami and now live in Dallas so some of my best friends are Hispanic. I'm just asking the question.
