Mike Johnson: "The WIC program, the nutrition program -- women, infants, and children -- that program won't be funded. FEMA won't be funded."

I agree. Republicans can kill the filibuster. They can use the nuke option. Let's see who owns the shutdown, considering who owns the Congress, Supreme Court, and White House.
Trump/Republicans AND TRUMP VOTERS can never take responsibility.

They don't have the integrity.

yes. the point of this Kabuki is who winds up holding the hot potato

The government shuts down all the time and propaganda arm of the democrat party blames the republicans every time. Yet the republicans hold the presidency, the House and the Senate. So either the people dont give a shit about government shutdowns or they like it when it happens.

Gee, wonder why that is? Party of less government. Party that threatens to not pass a bill to extend the debt ceiling when the US treasuries are on the line but suddenly find a way to massively extend the debt ceiling when they're in total control of the government. Your position is a position based on lies - full stop.

Yet the republicans hold the presidency, the House and the Senate. So either the people dont give a shit about government shutdowns or they like it when it happens.

Again, the Republicans can use the nuke option if keeping the government is as important to them as getting Amy Coney Barrett on the Supreme Court.

when is the last time you saw a demonstration of "good faith" from DC politicians?

That's the point. Right now the budgets that have been passed aren't even being followed and neither side want's to give literally anything.

We're at the point where there isn't any good faith to go around so it makes sense that they can't get their jobs done.

gotta be bipartisan 60 to break a fillibuster. However i bet there are a few Repub dweeds that would vote no
McConnell owns those all-time records.

They can't even pass a budget... that is worse.
Congress hasn't passed a budget for 28 years, since Newt Gingrich and the Contract with America. The same Gingrich who engineered 3 balanced budgets for Bill Clinton.

It's not a "budget." It's a Continuing Resolution. It's to keep the government running at the same spending levels as this year while a new spending plan (Appropriations Bill) is developed. Dems want to force the GOP to negotiate under pressure of a "shut down."
Would you trust the GOP to negotiate later? I would think they will be on the CR continually just to avoid negotiations.

Odd, there were no shutdowns in the Biden administration, and only once in the Obama administration. Guess who was president the last time it happened!

Good job Trump voters. You screwed Trump voters.

FEMA won’t be funded — states affected by hurricanes, tornadoes, super storms, earthquakes, flooding, and wildfires are going to love this.

Is there no on in the White House with any brains, or is this a competition to see which budget cut can anger the most people?

Would you trust the GOP to negotiate later?
Yes. I wouldn't expect them to cave any time soon. Dems say they're concerned about health care costs, but they want to cut a Rural Hospitals part of the CR.

I would think they will be on the CR continually just to avoid negotiations.
I don't think the GOP wants to avoid negotiations. But "negotiation" doesn't mean folding. Any negotiations will be made more difficult by Dem Party politics, with Schumer and Jeffries both trying to prove that they're the Party's leaders by satisfying both extremes of their members.

And why is it just a stop gap measure? Could it be the GOP is incapable of writing a real funding bill?
So let's see. The GOP has failed to produce a budget bill since Jan., they refuse to negotiate with dems, the government shuts down , Trump fires hundreds of thousands more federal workers, and the GOP wants to blame it on democrats.

I don't think the citizens will be fooled this time.

They won't like it this time. All those federal job furloughs aren't going to end this time. Trump has threatened hundreds of thousands more federal jobs. He plans on firing them. Project 2025 wants him to do just that. Trump wants the government to shut down. The congress will just bend over and ask for more.

Our southern states are going to get hammered by hurricanes during Trump's entire administration.

The Dems are not asking for a cut in hospitals that's the GOP. Million will have higher health insurance and care costs to the point of poverty if the GOP can't compromise.

Gee why should the GOP negotiate? Because Biden did all 4 years. Same reason there was no shutdowns in his administration.

They have refused to meet and negotiate. No negotiations have happened.

such is power politics
Hahaha not even going to pretend that the people of America support your agenda anymore? Good. I wish more conservatives would be like you and finally start saying what they really think. We have the most radical right wing government in our nation's history, you don't have to hide anymore. You won. You have everything you want.

Has your life gotten better?

If you know this, why are congressional democrats playing right into Trumps hands.
