Midterm elections: GOP redistricting setbacks prompt lawsuits, gerrymandering accusations

your district literally looks the same as before. As I said, democrats got the best they could hope for.

but go ahead and challenge it, see what happens.

Yep, completely gerrymandered. It contains parts of 5 counties (yet no entire county) and parts of two cities about 80 miles apart. It is guaranteed blue.

Blue gerrymandering is good, red gerrymandering is bad - what is such fairness so hard to understand? ;)

They are both bad. And Republicans are very happy California believes that.

California could have gerrymandered the hell out of their districts and the BBB Act would already be passed.

The BBB passed in the House.

oh. sorry. horrible example.

The problem Republicans are facing this cycle is they are running out of gerrymandering opportunities. They squeezed most of the juice out of that lemon in 2010.

Actually the problem the Democrats have in this election cycle is the 38% approval rating Biden has on the economy and his failure on the campaign promise regarding Covid. this is about issues and those with a cult like reaction to the D are out of touch with reality

Okay.

Nope, since gerrymandering has no impact on statewide US Senate races. BTW, BBB passed in the House.

Congress must supply the legislative pretext for the SCOTUS to finish the job.
I don't see that as likely. It's more likely to be found unconstitutional. The current SCOTUS doesn't think so, but a future one might.

The last thing that I want is for the SCOTUS to legislate - especially if you think that the matter of federal control would likely be unconstitutional.

That isn't legislating. That's recognizing an unconstitutional practice and deciding correctly.

Based on what?
Selectively disenfranchising voters for political advantage. The cureent SCOTUS doesn't agree. A future court which isn't as right leaning might see it differently.

Voters are not “disenfranchised” simply because they happen to reside in a congressional district where they are a minority.

Those who don't see it won't see it.

Gerrymandering bad. Unilateral disarmament worse.

Yep, yet the DOJ is going after Texas, but not New York. That seems to be a blatantly partisan approach.

What exactly is the DOJ going after Texas for?

Gerrymandering.
