First lady Michelle Obama appeared on the “Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon for a quick comedy sketch with Will Ferrell, to dish on her near-driving age daughter — and to solicit success stories for her signature “Let’s Move” exercise and nutrition campaign.

Interspersed with the joke lines were Mrs. Obama’s healthy eating tips, MSNBC reported. She later used her “Tonight Show” time to campaign more directly for her “Let’s Move” initiative, asking show watchers to send in their success stories and describe how they’ve incorporated exercise into their daily routines.

Yes MO appeared on the Tonight Show.....of course this article says they only talked about her Lets Move program. Also what was not mentioned was how she explained that they.....not saying who they was. Were thinking that young people are ninkapoops. That they think that young people aren't smart enough to know about signing up for O' Care. This is the type of messaging that Team Obama is resorting to.

Getting the young people to think they are being mocked now.....by they. Whoever they is suppose to be.

Naturally the Putz Fallon is getting more Flak than MO this Morning. But Conservative radio is on top of the matter with the call ins......BTW,who the hell is this Lame that they would give him the Tonight Show. What has this gump ever done in his life to measure up to take this spot? Don't look like much to me.....as in Nothing to warrant his Limelight. Or to be relevant in this country.

I'm not really a Fallon fan but I like the 'Let's Move' campaign. Too many kids just want to sit around and watch tv, play video games, or surf the internet and snack instead of playing and moving around. It's good for her to get the message out there, what's the big deal?

 I thinked I've said "what's the big deal?" here more in the past few days than ever before. Seriously though, why do people get so worked up over the smallest things?

Fallon's been one of the more consistently entertaining comedic entertainers. His Neil Young impression is dead on

I knew someone would be outraged by Michelle Obama being on the show. I guess it's taking away from her other important duties as First Lady whatever those would be. Laura Bush's issue was reading. Obama's is exercise. I don't really get what the deal is. I certainly don't remember a bunch of liberals heading for the internet to say "Pfft, reading? The government wants to control us!" Or libertarians for that matter.

Oh yes. A first lady promoting nutrition, physical exercise and intellectual maturity. What a bitch!

Our Cheeto eating, video game playing, diabetic, gangster wanna-be kids should be HIGHLY offended.

Some people just disgust me.

I think the big issue with those Conservatives on the Right.....from what I am getting off of Conservative radio. Was the fact on how she was speaking as to the play on those young people to try and get them to sign up for O-care. Which Naturally they bring up all the Advertising that's being done to attract young people. Then talk about how Biden admitted yesterday that they might not hit the reduced numbers they were hoping for. As they had reduced the numbers once already as to what they would accept as showing the Program was a success.

With Bennetts show.....they seemed to consider it as an attempt to get them to think that they are being mocked and taken advantage of.

Yeah it disgust me to when the MS media attempts to downplay it Cap. Can you explain why Huff Po......while presenting this story is more concerned about MO's Jumpsuit and how she is a Leader in Style?

Its, all about delivering the message for the Obamas. How we ever survived without MO telling us how to live, I just dont know.

Message from Michelle:when you're thristy, drink water.

*and the crowd goes wild*

Heya AW
hat.gif
they aren't bitching about her Lets Move Program. They are complaining about the remarks as to who is trying to mock the young people in not signing up for the O'care.

She said young people think they are invincible..... but that all know that they are knuckleheads. That they aren't invincible and that after 26. They will have to figure something out as they will no longer be covered under their parent insurance.

As a matter of fact I have 560Am radio on Right now.....and they are just finishing up talking about this.

Don't know. Don't usually spend much time trying to dissect propaganda outlets like HuffPo. Don't know. Don't care.

What I do know, is that decent American's traditionally have shown respect towards it's first lady regardless of which baffoon she might be married to. The ends some people go to to find fault, any wart, any blemish or stocking run they can pin on Michelle Obama, is not only a sign of lacking proper parenting, but petty and childish as well.

Even that last president, that damn near ruined the country, the hardest of libbo's and other detractors, treated his wife, our first lady, with respect.

I think MO is doing a fine job. She is staying benign in political matters and using her station in life to advance the cause of children. people that cannot appreciate that, I am not much interested in what they think anymore than I am interested in what HuffPo thinks.

Heya SMW.

Could you check that Huff Po Article out......as I can't get the page to hold due to some long script it is running. I tried to stop the script from running. But it just freezes the page.

It was the headline that Huff-po started the day with about MO appearing with this Lame they gave the Tonight Show to.

Thats understandable why you have the attitude you do with the I don't care bit, Cap. :2wave: I use to think the same way. But then when one looks at this. as in whats trending in the world of the media. Then one just can't accept whats said on some report. So I learned a long time ago. To start looking into at who is putting out what and how that all plays out.

For all those that are in the not knowing.....and not aware of what is taking place around them. They do say.....to be aware is to be alive.

Of course.....those that are in the knowing. Do have an advantage over those.....who are not. Correct?

Were you this outraged when Laura Bush advocated for reading?

Laura Bush and Learning to Read - The Literacy Company

How about when Nancy Reagan told us to "Just say no?" God knows I never would have figured out that cocaine was bad for you if it wasn't for her appearance on "Diff'rent Strokes."

So reading and not doing drugs is good, but not grabbing the Doritos and getting up off of your fat ass instead is bad?

Again......Reading is Fundamental.....they aren't complaining about her Let's Move Program. Moreover.....its not to difficult to listen to the words that come out her mouth over remarks and comments on her hubbies Care package.....which you can't say isn't part of their future. Either way it goes.

That was a reply specifically to the post quoted. Which said

I think that goes very well with reading and saying No to drugs.

Now listening to what Michelle said, it wasn't much (at least not in the snippets from the link). But, I really don't see the difference in how it dovetails with her husband's policies and how it worked in the Bush and Reagan White Houses. "Just say No" was a big part of Ron's policies in the Drug War. Encouraging reading fit nicely with "No Child Left Behind" and just look at what George was doing the morning of 9/11/01 when he learned of the attacks.

I would go with the comment that all young people are knuckleheads and don't listen......as far as Dove-tailing O'care. You do understand all the Hype over the advertising and their whole means to try and make the failed program work.....Right? You do know about the separate ads targeting specific groups of young people, correct? From Gamers to Boarders Rap to Pop Rock. Tattos of Mom. The Jeans commercials. Etc etc.

Then there is Team Obama's supporters from the Entertainment Industry.....messaging it thru. Subliminally telling them how its good for them and that it works. It doesn't!

Now being aware of these things in the Political World of the media.....when there is an all out blitz to get rid of a program that the majority of the country doesn't want. Then if there is a First lady out and trying to sell the Egg that wasn't golden. Then in these days of Generation X-Y and Z. All come under scrutiny and if necessary any type of fire. Needs to be brought forth front and center.

If she wants no part of pushing her hubbys program.....then none will have no trouble with it. Someone can pass it along to her and Team Obama.

Who said anybody is outraged?

Amazing how protective some folks get when it comes to Queen Michelle.

Did you see the spiffy jumpsuit she wore? Nobody can pull off a boob belt quite as good as MO. And the new eyebrows she got for her bday are lovely.

Methinks thou dost protest too much. ;)

Well you might not.....but seems Huff-Po and Salon figured Mo was a Style Goddess. Yet how did they get this with sitting on the Tonight Show.....with some Putz like 3rd rated comedian. That surely wasn't the Top out there.

Why would any of that been reported on even over her Lets Move Program?

I don't know, but the issue wasn't with what she was wearing so lets leave that for another time. Just use the "fashion" subforum so I can stay out of it (there is no fashion subforum, btw). I don't pay any attention to HuffPo, and even if I did I don't make editorial decisions for them.

I simply don't see anything she said or did as being more or less, bigger or worse than other first ladies in the past with the exception of Hillary Clinton who definitely was more involved than any FL we've seen since (though not before, that would be Edith Wilson).

Fallon isn't 3rd rate, I think he succeeds in being funny more often than SNL (even when he was on SNL, it didn't get much better than Weekend Update with Fallon and Tina Fey).
