Michael Cohen to file ‘emergency stay’ to quash Stormy Daniels case — to plead the Fifth: report

I'm glad you're having fun guessing about how this will all play out, ;) but seriously, I don't think something like this can actually be proved beyond a reasonable doubt. Too circumstantial, an awful lot of conjecture here.

Who cares about all the legal proving nonsense and reasonable doubt. This ain't a trial. This is a TV show. And the star is about to have a bunch of costars throw him down the stairs.

I had not considered that, I was always curious as to how they came to the 130,000 figure. I just assumed they started at 100 and 150 and settled...
It's such an odd number that a lot of...or at least a few people have wondered about that, too.
Nah, I think it's just the way the numbers fall-out in the back & forth negotiation process.

You Adorables got what you voted for, a trashy reality TV personality.

Actually I was thinking in terms of losing the old guard, and getting some new blood in like they did with Colin Lamb in PA.

Corey Booker spoke at my son's graduation ceremony. He is quite impressive not only as a speaker but also what he accomplished. Would like to see him broaden his expertise in some areas. Could be a star folks will rally around.

My money is on reasonable people have little doubt... ;)

Trump never showed much concern on what a spouse thought until the election (the whole Marla Maples thing) so there's that.... :peace

So how about those deficits that run near to 1 T per year. In the event of an economic downturn, it will easily exceed the 1 T mark.

not a problem
because the republican answer to any governmental problem is "tax cut"
don't like adding $3,000 per year to the national debt for every man, woman, and child in America
"tax cut" is certain to be the cure
republican solution: let's borrow ourselves out of debt

Beats the corrupt pos that you guys nominated.
Conspiring with Russians during an election.
Leaking classified information through an insecure sever because it was hacked.

Sending said classified information to a guy that was never supposed to have it.
Somehow getting people in government to sacrifice their ethics, and careers to keep her
In the election.

It is still amazing that no matter how much they try and dig up on trump they have nothing on him personally.
Still no evidence he colluded with Russia.
No evidence of obstruction.
And the list goes on.

Well that is how we evaluate whether someone has committed a crime.
Actual evidence.

In the source I quoted above, it was said that the timing of the payment might be circumstantial.

Until you add the other two or three payoffs during that same time period...then it starts to look like intent.

I'm not sure what this means for the president, but this story is quickly consuming the WH in a way that I didn't anticipate.

The issue isn't his affair with these women, the issue is that the campaign was directing payments to women for their silence, which is very illegal if proven.

In the immortal words of Donald J. Trump, "If you're innocent, why are you taking the fifth amendment?".

Didn't he say that after pleading the fifth over 90 times in one case?

Why yes, yes he did! But pointing out Trump's hypocrisy is a serious no-no. His fan base won't allow it. Makes them tinkle in their panties.

actually Trump's fan base is too ****ing stupid to know the difference

As was I, reason I mentioned PA, could not recall his name. But yes I agree

It would be the second time an investigation by a special prosecutor resulted in uncovering a sex scandal involving the president, only this time the party is reversed and the allegations are more serious.

Not only that the investigative tree that bore the fruit for the lead of this new probe is going to go public with their own blockbuster report, that is going to at a minimum tear the WH a new asshole for the presidents obstruction.

The GOP is in its darkest hour.

"More serious"? Bill Clinton was accused of rape.

Perhaps that might explain the odd low amounts that Stormy and the Playmate were paid. A slush fund to cover a 100 women getting paid on average 130K to 150K would have to be around 15 million at least.

And I don't know if this what the lawyer was referring to I read on Twitter last night, but the (alleged) large numbers of women do a decent job of explaining why Trump and Cohen were so adamant to shut up Stormy, even after we pretty much all knew he had an affair, etc. Could be Avenatti has a stack of women with similar NDAs, all with the same faults, and this is the 'test' case or similar....

Avenatti speculated that the reason Trump is so silent about Stormy is because the affair took place while Melania was giving birth to their son and it might have something to do with their prenuptial agreement.

As to how many other women with NDA are out there is hard to say...but Bannon said they were in the hundreds.
