Dave Gibson of The Examiner notes the hypocrisy in the Mexican government’s sudden change of heart as the Mexican authorities have long criticized the United States for the construction of a fence along a United States/Mexican border. Likewise, Mexico asserts that the passage of 500,000 people from Central America into Mexico is an appropriate reason for a fence, but that many people annually cross into the state of Arizona alone. Yet, that has not stopped Mexico from criticizing Arizona for the introduction of its immigration law, Senate Bill 1070.

Of course, this is not the first time the American people have encountered hypocrisy from the Mexican government regarding illegal immigration. In an article entitled “How Mexico Treats Its Illegal Aliens,” conservative writer Michelle Malkin outlined Mexico’s treatment of illegal aliens, which could be dubbed “intolerant, hateful, and discriminatory,” in the words of Calderon. Mexico demands a number of things from its illegals, particularly that they contribute to the “economic and social interests” of the country, while not upsetting “the equilibrium of the national demographics.” But can’t that be construed as a form of racial and ethnic profiling — the same over which the Mexican government articulated concerns when Arizona passed its immigration law?

It seems, however, that the old adage “what goes around comes around” is true. Just as Mexico has opposed construction of an American/Mexican border fence, the Guatemalan government is now speaking out against the Mexican government for the same reason and with the same arguments used by the Mexican government against the United States.

On the plus side, if mexico does build a wall across it's southern border, mexico would have to shut up it's whinning about the US/mexico wall. A mexican wall at the southern border of mexico would also help deter unwanted uninvited illegal border jumpers into the US, because most of the illegals from latin America south of mexico are just crossing mexico on their way to break into the US. You would also expect mexico to use somewhat harsher methods to stop illegal immigration into mexico, than our own hands tied behind their back BP are allowed to. Our own BP might pick up a few good pointers from mexico on how to stop unwanted uninvited illegal border jumpers from breaking in, which could be implemented after the hispandering maobama is kicked out.

Actually, I'd like to see how this measure got passed in the Mexican government. It could be that the Mexican legislature passed it with or without the endorsement of President Calderon. I'd really like to see whether or not Calderon approved of this measure.

It's quite disengenuous to say that the Mexican President is hypocritical if he was against this measure but the Mexican legislature may have passed it anyway.

I'm not saying I'm for or against this measure, I'm just saying there may be more to this than meets the eye.

The hypocisy is something I have pointed out on many occasions. For as many problems as we have with illegal immigration and disagreements about potential solutions, mexico is the both the dog and the flea biting the dog. They ignore the illegal EMMIGRATION problem becausae their citizens come to the US and send money back to mexico propping up their economy. They cry racism when people in the US take a proactive stand attempting to end the influx of illegal immigrants. However illegal immigrants in mexico are jailed. hey are shot when attempting entry through mexicos southern border. Unless you're saying that the mexican gov is helping the illegals to the south of mexico cross through mexico and break into the US, otherwise, a certain number of illegals are attempting to break in from mexico independently of all of the guatamalans, etc. who are breaking in. Well, I'm thinking that the candidates that the tea party have gotten nominated and hopefully elected in Nov are not your traditional RINO republicans. I believe that the republican party is going to be much more conservative and fiscally responsible in the future. The most important thing that can be done about illegal immigration is voting as many marxist/socialist amnesty democratic politicians out of office as possible. The current republican party has been fighting illegal immigration and the current democratic party has been pushing for amnesty. It does no good for pro-illegals politicians to toss the salad of illegals for votes. So whose asses do you think they are going to stick their tonges in in order to toss the salad for votes? Its going to be the traitorous scum who hire illegals, i the people who harbor illegals, the people that aid illegals, the open borders crowd, the people who support amnesty and can vote. Mexico has figured out they can be as hypocritical and arrogant on this issue as they please because they know the our government as well as so called "political leaders" will simply ignore or tolerate it.
