So ends the turbulent, but successful: Withdrawal of Nations From Afghanistan. The Presidential Leader in charge faces no apparent and immediate opposition in events now moving ahead. The opposition will turn to other matters ahead, instead.
____________
In various sources:

"Speaking at an event in Kentucky on Wednesday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell shut down the notion that President Joe Biden would be impeached anytime soon. 'Well, look, the president's not going to be removed from office,'" McConnell replied when asked whether Biden's behavior was impeachable.

(Hard it is to spot the problem, through all the prayers, Matt 25: 14-30, Lives Don't Matter, Heaven On Earth! So the Party of Lincoln goes forward as always: Loading up the AK-47's, heading over the river and through the woods, to the year-end various festivals--lining up on both sides of the tables: Opening fire upon another!)

Was he booed when he said that?

Mitch and Joe have been friends for 30 years.

Your definition of successful is strange. 13 dead and 22 wounded American military, upwards of 170 afghan allies. Tens of billions of dollars turned over to the control of the Taliban. Tens of thousands of Afghans who worked with the US government and 100's of US citizens left behind. Being pushed out by the Talibans terms. I'd hardly call that a success. Say what it is, we got our troops out, almost all of them alive. Joe said it: "90% of all Americans who wanted out, got out". Success?

The right thing to say. I may thing this pullout has been bungled but that's a long tradition among Presidents. His "impeachment" should be at the voting booth. We need to get back to using elections to remove a leader we want, not frivolous impeachment trials.

Fact check: No, the Taliban did not seize $83 billion of U.S. weapons

The second false assumption is that every piece of equipment that was provided to Afghan military forces was left behind as the United States withdrew from the area. But that’s also not the case. The U.S. military took a lot of equipment out of country before the withdrawal. In May 2021, for example, the U.S. military took “70 plane loads” of equipment out of Afghanistan. In 2015, $7 billion worth of equipment was destroyed.

For equipment that couldn’t be moved out of country, they tried to destroy or disable it. Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, the head of U.S. Central Command, said during a press conference on Aug. 30, 2021

I agree, attempting to nullify elections in partisan impeachments gets us nowhere.

Out of the news, out of the opinion polls. See how Integrityrespec types gloss over the Q-Anon-type, blowing up U.S. Military and Afghans alike. They are apparently claiming it was President Biden(?), surviving in a Second Coming, or something(?).

Biden will be removed when NANCY says he'll be removed.

At least Mitch realizes that you need a impeachable offence to impeach a president. On top of that, the democrats hold the house and Senate. Soooooo........ Yup.

Out of the news, out of the polls!

Next comes the build or the collapse, (or status quo ante bellum: Opium beds all managed by drug dealers(?))!

No, he doesn't. You think he would have voted against impeaching Bill Clinton, or wouldn't vote to impeach Biden if he thought they had the votes?

Good point.

Mitch and Joe have been friends for 30 years.
I guess Biden has enough conservative blood .........

Friendships are wonderful however if the moderates, liberals, women's rights and real republicans get screwed over ....... then ..........

thumbs up

Have no fear if Charles Koch told Mitch to impeach Joe ......Mitch would hop to it.

I hope McConnell was just pointing out a basic fact, because it's really not up to him (or any Republican) whether or not Biden is removed from office.

I think it's technically up to Democrats and some Republicans to remove Biden from office.
It's up to Democrats to impeach Biden.

Neither are happening based on current events.

It might be just a tad early to call that goat rope "successful". There are still Americans and Afghans that help us in country. It's also hard to assess our loss of international respect.

If USA is out, then the withdrawal was successful.

See how it plays in two weeks media more.
