So seemingly no time has passed since the deadliest mass shooting in American history and here we are with yet another bushel of Americans dead because its never the "right time" for gun control.

Can this finally be the time we do something. Can we finally ban heavy assault weapons. Can we finally close the Gun show loophole. Can we finally have universal background checks and waiting periods. etc. Or is it still not the time to be talking about this.

In a word, no. In this current environment when our presidential leadership celebrates kangaroo court justice and vigilantism, we are far, far away from taking any steps that will limit any sap from building up a military type arsenal. This, unfortunately is the environment though we now have to navigate.

that's why the best way to keep a check on an overly militarized CIVILIAN police force is to limit the POLICE to the same firearms that private citizens are allowed to keep and bear

private citizens in the USA were commonly using semi auto rifles and shotguns long before the US military adopted said firearms for its soldiers. Same with hand held fully automatic weapons
