Let's see how far this gets shall we?

This is good. We can't have a minority party on the right or the left telling the rest of us who and how and what is legitimate in our voting.

Looks like Chuck finally took him behind the 'shed and put a good whoopin' on his wayward ass.

Good to see... (y)
or more likely he got nervous thinking about the WEst Virginians who protested in support of this bill last week!

That wrong. If a "Minority" is telling the Majority that they can not break the US Constitution the Minority is right ...
Remember America IS NOT A DEMOCRCAY ! It's a Constitutional Republic.

What's more important, the democratic process or the white race staying in power and the majority?
Neither ! Following the US Constitution will be the best ! Remember in a "Democracy" if 51 % of the people vote for it we could have:
Slavery
Racial oppression
Financial Oppression
Political Oppression
etc....

Having a filibuster isn't what makes America a constitutional republic. The filibuster is not even in the constitution.

Wrong. America is a Democratic Constitutional Republic, which means a Republic working on democratic procedures. The Minority will be destroyed if necessary by the Majority if the Minority continues to flout the law and the numbers. The GOP is on the path to making this country a permanent Democratic Party majority, and if that happens the GOP will never hold power again.

Yes. Unfortunately the Dems must either concentrate one one or the other.

Why? The Jim Crow filibuster was never envisioned by our founders, it is undemocratic. The Jim Crow filibuster has been eliminated (called the nuclear option) in the past, it can be done now and if the Repubs have the opportunity, they won't hesitate to use it in the future. If there was ever a need to dump it's now! If the Democrats refuse to use it now, what the #### will it ####### take!

Look what's at stake, every major goal of President Biden and the very real possibility of the end of our democracy. If a 5 ton elephant is charging you and your choice of weapons is an elephant gun or spoon and you choose the spoon, who's to blame for getting squashed? How many Senators have stood on the Senate floor and on national cable demanding the Democrats end the Jim Crow filibuster? How about President Biden??

The Democrats have chosen the spoon. Maybe Democrats need to live through the worse of what the Repubs can dish out (and we've seen nothing yet) before their sweaty trembling hands pick up a real weapon...

The Poor People’s Campaign (PPC) marched on Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-W.Va.) local congressional office in Charleston on Monday, urging the moderate senator to reverse his position on voting rights, a $15 minimum wage and President Biden’s infrastructure plan.

“There is no such thing as being moderate when it comes to protecting voting rights and lifting the poor and lifting low wealth people and providing health care, and providing living wages,” the Rev. William Barber, co-chair of the PPC, said to the crowd of more than 300 people.

“Which side are you on, Joe Manchin?” Barber continued.

According to 2019 census data, West Virginia has one of the highest rates of poverty in the country, at 16 percent.
Since Biden took office in January, Manchin has increasingly become a roadblock to his party’s legislative agenda.

The West Virginia senator balked at including raising the federal minimum wage to $15 in Biden’s pandemic relief package and has said that he doesn’t support the For the People Act, a sweeping reform bill that would mandate expanded voting rights nationwide, among other things.

Manchin has also signaled his uneasiness over the combined $4 trillion price tag of Biden’s American Families Plan and infrastructure proposal.

Perhaps more notable — and more frustrating for progressives — is Manchin’s defense of the Senate filibuster, the largest obstacle to Democrats’ agenda.

Manchin needs to be replaced with a true moderate who represents the people .............. and cut the BS.

The FFs would have no problems whatsoever with the filibuster, just pissed they had not thought of it themselves.

It has to be destroyed.

the whole GOP in the SEnate and House need to be replaced too!

I realize now that Manchin is actually inconsequential. He might have had some leverage if there were a possibility of ten Repubs supporting voting reform, but we knew that was a pipe dream a long time ago. Eliminate the Jim Crow filibuster and bypass the Democrats who put their jobs before their country. We just need a simple majority of real American Democrats who know what the consequences of sitting on their hands yet again will bring down on our heads...
