Creator of ‘Beavis and Butt-Head’ and ‘King of the Hill’ Has a New Target: Environmentalists - WSJ.com
By JAMIN BROPHY-WARREN * MAY 22, 2009

Director Mike Judge’s new animated television series “The Goode Family” is a send-up of a clan of environmentalists who live by the words “What would Al Gore do?” Gerald and Helen Goode want nothing more than to minimize their carbon footprint. They feed their dog, Che, only veggies (much to the pet’s dismay) and Mr. Goode dutifully separates sheets of toilet paper when his wife accidentally buys two-ply. And, of course, the family drives a hybrid.

On Wednesday at 9 p.m., “The Goode Family” will have its premiere on ABC and become the first animated series on the network’s prime-time lineup since 1995 when “The Critic” starring Jon Lovitz ended its second season.

There's a clip at the link. Might be funny. Airs Wednesday night.

It's like the polar opposite of "American Dad"!

I have never seen that show. And I'm the only person I know that doesn't watch the Simpsons. I do love Southpark.

Anyway, the new "Goode Family" show starts tonight on ABC at 8:00 central.

This show is cracking me the fudge up.

Some "Goode" lines, from the show...
"Attention grocercy shoppers. The man driving the Hummer is in the 4th aisle. He's the one wearing the baseball cap."

"I'm sorry I used so much gas dad."
"It's ok son, whats important is that you feel guilty about it".

"Since the election, its ok to wear flag pins now."

Stupid show...needs better writers...or Bart Simpson to move in next door...

It was pretty good. It has potential to be very good, but it could also end up sucking after a few episodes.

Yeah, if they try to tackle too much early on, they'll run out of steam.

Exactly what I was thinking. My guess is one good season and then it'll get stale like Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill did. Basically, every new episode of King of the Hill is just a rehash of some older episode nowadays.

There are still new episodes of King of The Hill?

I think so. I don't watch that much TV, but I remember seeing an ad for it less than a year ago while watching football on FOX. It might be canceled now.

Me and my wife have an annoying habit of getting into shows, after they've been sent to syndication. I don't think there is any current show, where I tune in for new episodes week after week. A few shows, like South Park and Family guy are kind of in the realm of new stuff is coming out, while old stuff gets heavy rotation, so I get to see those new and old. But I never set aside time in my day for a specific show. Of course all thats out the window when mankinds greatest endeavor(football) starts up in the fall.

There is a full time character missing from the mix. The show needs a super nerd/engineer/science guy, like one of the characters from Big Bang Theory, a person who presents the pros and cons in terms of actual technical reality. Of course, it would just be a running joke. No matter how much or how well he inserts logical thinking into the argument, he can never quite reach ANY of the others.....on either side of the green argument...

An occasional character input might be the local politicians and media types doing their absolute best to display their lack of knowledge.

My wife dreads football season because I commandeer all of our TV's and the computer and set up a little football viewing zone in the living room.

I clear the entire weekend for football. Nothing pisses me off more than people that decide to get married during football season. Don't they know better?

My wife's grandmother's 80th birthday was on a saturday during the NFL playoffs and her dumbass family decided to throw an 80th birthday party during the game.

To be honest, the bitch is lucky she saw 81.

My son was supposed to be due on Superbowl weekend. Being the smart guy he is, he decided to come out 2 weeks early so he could watch it. I would have hated to have not been there when he was born.:)

One time, my wife was trying to be cute and asked me what I would do if the Bears were in the Superbowl and she went into labor during the game.

I told her that her question is just silly because I'd pull the little bastard out myself three days before the game just to make sure that wouldn't happen.
