Major League Baseball 2020

Mets are starting to test positive..

Marlins vs Mets game in Florida tonight is canceled. Good bet because of the positive tests and them being in Florida pretty much means the next 3 games vs. the Yankees are going to be canceled.

Edit: As i was writing this a notification came across my phone that the next 2 games vs. Yankees have been postponed..

Nats Strasburg done for the year. Season ending surgery..

If there is a World Series this year it may come down to minor leaguers playing in the Series..

Nats have invested a lot of high draft picks in starting pitching. Now we'll see whether that pays off.

Nats' Strasburg to have season-ending surgery

Mets had 6 starters. Now they down to 2.. Players are dropping like flies. I'm not sure the 'summer training camp' was long enough. All the dicking around and petty arguing both sides did may have caused immense harm..

7 if you want to include Peterson.

With these days off, who knows now, everything might change... But before these postponed games Lugo was about to go into the starting rotation, And that's scary because he has been their best most reliable reliever. Without him in the pen, who do they turn to to get outs in the later innings?

Having to try to stretch out 2 relievers during the season is never a good idea.

The World Series champion Washington Nationals have reportedly fired Jazhiel Morel after video surfaced of his disturbing act. The Dominican Republic employee threw hot coffee in a female worker’s face at a convenience store.

Morel has reportedly agreed to turn himself into authorities on Monday.

ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan shared video of the act on Twitter, via Ode Comunica.

Nats Employee Fired Following Disturbing Act In Convenience Store

Absolutely pathetic.

Nice no-hitter by Lucas G. A big fan of his mom.

I was at the game when Phillip Humber threw a perfect game. That has to be one of the most shocking perfect games in baseball history.

I just went to ESPN web site to get some baseball scores and to see what times the games start tonight and which ones are being televised. What I got was the first three main articles all about politics. I always thought ESPN was suppose to be a sports web site, not a political one.

I'm moving ESPN out of my sports bookmarks into my political bookmarks. If I want politics I'll come to sites like this one. If I want sports, it looks like ESPN isn't the place for sports anymore. It's become just another political web site.

I haven't watched ESPN in many years.. I don't even get them on my TV package. I use to love SportsCenter but once it became more of a variety show instead of sports news and scores I walked away and never looked back.

But to be fair the lines between Sports and Politics right now are kind of blurry.

I cut the chord over a decade ago--so much so I do not even turn a TV on in a hotel anymore--and I only watch what I want now online, mostly in clip format. It's a pleasant experience, and it makes for a more enlightened one, as well.

It does seem so. I have to wonder how many tune into ESPN to get sports and now get politics, if that doesn't make them a bit irritated. It does me. I like to watch my 2, 2 1/2 sometimes three hours of a Braves game to get away from all of that. If I want politics, I have DP and just about every news media and outlet to get it from. Getting pure sports, now that is becoming a challenge.

Oh well, I can always watch old movies which I enjoy, usually these old 50/60's SciFi and horror movies or go to the history vault which has just put on a three part program about George Washington. If you like history, the history vault is the place to get it. No commercials and no politics. Baseball use to be that way, an avenue to forget your troubles and get away from the real world for a couple of hours. Not anymore. Well, Fox sports southeast which broadcasts most of the braves games has stayed away from politics, at least for now.

Thank god for Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, Lon Cheney, Boris Karloff, Peter Cushing et al. I suppose I'd better not forget Peter Graves, John Agar and the rest. Good clean fun, no politics.

Basil Rathbone.

I've been with DirecTV for 20+ years.. When AT&T bought them out I was sure I was going to cut the cord, because everything AT&T touches turns to crap. And I've been right about that, DirecTV has lost something like 6-7 million subscribers the last few years. Their business model with DTV AND their streaming services of providing less and charging more just doesn't seem to be working.. Imagine that!!!!

But I have the least expensive package DTV provides, with no pay channels, no frills, no bells and whistles. And they've pretty much left me alone, I pay pretty much the same now as I paid 3-4 years ago. So I'm still with them, for now..

But oh yeah I have looked around closely at who to go with, etc. when/if I 'cut the cord'...I already have an antenna on the roof...lol

Basil Rathbone.

Believe it or not, Basil Rathbone was in some old SciFi movies prior and after his Sherlock Holmes role. The Voyage to a Prehistoric Planet and Queen of Blood comes to mind.

Went to ESPN's web site this AM, still full of politics. Last time for that for quite awhile.

My daughter has direct TV, it seems like every time it rains, she loses reception. I have cable for both TV and internet, I've never lost it except when we lose power. Never during a storm or even just rain.

With mine if it rains really, really hard I lose it. But normal rain storm, it's fine.

If your daughter is having problems when it just a steady normal type rain tell her that 1) the dish is probably a little out of whack, she could call DTV and ask them to come out and realign the dish...and/or 2) On most channels she can watch either the HD of the channel, or the standard definition, tell her to tune to the SD channel while it's raining. Even if the dish is a little out of whack the SD should come in fine....

Seems Steve Cohen will be the new majority owner of the NY Mets. ARod and JLo have dropped out as has the Josh Harris-David Blitzer duo.

Cohen is already a minority Mets owner. He bid $2.6 billion previously, but his latest bid is probably lower since the Mets will lose ~$100+ million this year and in 2021.

It is unknown if Cohen will receive any part of the coveted SNY Network.

IIRC not having SNY in the deal was one of the major sticking points during the previous negotiations..

I can't see Cohen bidding lower this time, and getting SNY.. But hey, stranger things have happened.
