Maine residents agree with keeping trans athletes out of girls' and women's sports, poll shows (1 Viewer)

Imagine being a young woman that has worked years to be relevant in your sport, only to have a biological male being allowed to compete and dominate that sport. Or even worse, cause an injury because of their strength.
Maine has spoken, now their Governor needs to actually listen to her constituents

I think that most people that are for males competing against females are people who were never athletic, are the parents of boys or people that just don't care about sports... then there are those that are just raging spittle flying Liberal zealots that just see red everywhere.

Imagine being a young woman that has worked years to be relevant in your sport,

And it isn't just the girls good at sports. Imagine your daughter likes basketball. They only have 15 players. Imagine she sucked but was the bench warming 15 player but then lost that seat to a boy. Why should she lose out on being on a team or getting to play.

Trump did not win in Maine. So why do you think Fox should focus on something that people already know about?

Seems silly that YOU would choose to focus on that, when it is more understandable to focus on the poll indicating despite disliking Trump, most Maine participants in the poll agree... no males in female sports. :coffee:
He won the EC vote from the 2nd district.
Those north of Bangor love him.
But this has never been solely about a trans track student.
It is about the funding of all title IX expenditures. I know the Trump, et al are law guru's, but Maine's Gov was also our past AG.
My money is on her.
and for the record I don't give one or two ****s about this issue. I just can't sum up the care at all, and neither can my 13yr old daughter, who doesn't get the outrage either.

Imagine being one of a dozen or so kids who pose such a danger to society their needs to be a law against you.

Society is supposed to help people... to defend their rights. There would be no law if the trans kids just played according to their biological sex or if they got their own league.

It has been the major problem with sports in Maine. /s

Fun fact. My daughter is part of the Mt. Ararat school, she is destined for the HS next year.
What a ****ing scandal that was.

ETA: We still do not have definitive proof on what the Lisbon high hazing amounted to, outside of speculation.
(Lisbon, btw is just outside of Lewiston.)

Bring it down a notch there stretch Armstrong, these are HS kids we are talking about, years of "hard" work is a bit of a misnomer.

The Maine polls pretty much matches the national polls, Gallup 69% of all Americans think that transgenders should only play on teams that match their birth gender, 26% say transgenders should be able to play on teams that match their identity.

https://news.gallup.com/poll/507023/say-birth-gender-dictate-sports-participation.aspx

In a more recent poll, all Americans 79% said biological males who identify as women should not be allowed to participate in women’s sports. 67% of Democrats said transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete with women with 94% of Republicans stating transgender athetes should not be allowed to complete with women.

Seems even a good size majority of Democrats believe biaological males, transgenders shouldn't be able to particpate in girls or womans sports.
And eventually Maine's Human Rights laws will go to referendum and be changed. But laws don't get changed over night to suit some autocratic asshole's threats to illegally cut off funding. Maine's Human Rights law was written in an age when transgendered was not not an issue, was never brought up and Republicans never questioned the law.

In reality this issue is not about sports, women, transgendered women, or even money. This is about whether an unstable aggressive bully of a president can ignore the laws of the Constitution and force people, institutions and states to buckle under to his illegal demands. If Trump hadn't found transgender worked in his bullying he would have found another for plying his protection racket

No issue ever. That's our Suzie. Her dreams of being beloved like Sen. Snowe has died a fiery death.
More like a feeble flicker of a match going out. I used to be a big fan, but she just said one thing and did another once too often and I realized she lacked integrity. It's too bad she could have been an historic figure in Maine politics.

Small freaking world! I left Mt. A after 10th grade. Two siblings are both graduates. Mom still lives in Topsham : )
I've played men's league hockey with the now former coach (he's a bit younger). He's a really good guy.

I've probably sat next to you at a bar recently. Ha!

45 years in OT, ME youngest played hockey when Sean coached UMaine. So good to see Maine back into the big time.

They cannot feel empathy.

Their need to feel superior outweighs all.

I know. I am talking about the part that doesn't.

No one is automatically entitled to Federal funding. It can be withheld and/or limited if there are problems with the programs it has been allocated for. It is up to the Executive Branch to run the government. Trump is correct in protecting women of all ages from having to deal with males competing in programs that are supposed to be set up for females.

Trump is absolutely correct when he stated there are only two genders, male and female. Like the little boy meme below who knows the difference. Keep boys and men out of female spaces. We have our own to compete in.

End of Story. :coffee:

I love the position that the State must take a shit on a single high school kid to keep the President of the United States happy.

Wow, Maine sucks. Who knew the people who lived there were so awful?

I just want females to be able to compete in a fair environment. Against other biological females.

You can support her all you want. The majority of Mainer’s don’t want biological males competing in female sports.

Me too... I have two daughters.

No, I don’t think it’s an important issue but I am amused by those who think it is.
If it is so unimportant, then why not just give it up and comply with the executive order?

Seems pretty simple...

Me too... I have two daughters.
I don’t believe there is anything wrong with female athletes expecting to be treated fairly.

It is a small world. Mainers have a lot in common, and some things….not so much
