The Insiders: More phony positions from Democratic Senate candidates - The Washington Post

Georgia’s Democratic Senate candidate, Michelle Nunn, recently suggested she might not vote for Harry Reid to be Democratic Senate leader if she wins her election. That the first vote Democratic senators would take would be to reelect Harry Reid, and thereby support and maintain the status quo in Washington, is a potent weapon for Republicans to use against Democratic candidates. In a well-rehearsed statement, Nunn told reporters that she “look forward to changing the composition in the leadership of the Senate” and “will vote for the Democratic leader that . . . best represents our capacity to get things done.” What a charade. Since she is now on the record with the thought, she should name names of alternative candidates for Democratic leader. Who might receive her very first vote?

Wait...you started a thread to whine about politicians lying?

How...unorthodox.

OH NOES!!! A politician lied!!

Except she did not. The vote has not happened yet. The premise is that if she wins, and if Reid runs unopposed, and if she does not abstain, then she might have lied. The desperation that is the basis of this thread is ****ing hilarious.

And using an editorial as the basis to call some one else a liar is kinda the height of hypocrisy...

It is a core function of editorial writers to identify liars, and the Washington Post is not some minor league rag. Nunn's campaign is a sleight of hand trick that is unlikely to hold up all the way to Election Day.

At least Nunn is on the record saying she may not vote for Reid--and I support that.
GOP liars are scared to death of Nunn, so they try to make this about Reid. :peace

Meanwhile, McConnell plays to the TEAts saying he may shut down the gov't if he is Majority Leader,
as Kamikaze Kruz did last year--a Wall Street Journal name .

Every Senate race is about controlling the Senate, and therefore about Reid. That is why Repubs have been so much more disciplined and successful in candidate selection this time.

You have to be kidding with this as a big deal. Its politics. How about the GOP primary for state senator in Tennessee. This fine upstanding citizen of conservative values DesJarlais (he's anti choice of course and a doctor) was reprimanded by the states medical board for having sex with his patients all while still being married. He also urged one of his mistresses to get an abortion! The fact he won a primary is truly amazing but whats worse is the statement by the challenger that the GOP should rally around this hypocritical slime ball. Where is Senator wide stance when you need him.

It does not identify a liar. To suggest such is in fact a lie. It identifies some one who made a statement about what they will do, that they may or may not follow through on. In reality, it is no more a lie than any other campaign promise is a lie during the campaign. Seemingly your definition of a lie is something that might, depending on events, be untrue in the future. Good job redefining words to make them fit a purpose not intended, all so you can try and smear some one you don't like. What is your next trick? Declare she is a lesbian since she might, some day, possibly, sleep with another woman? Or is she too old, because some day she will be 80?

Every Senate race is about allowing the despicable Bitch McFilibuster threatening more wreckage on this Nation.
When America realizes in the next 71 days that Kamikaze Kruz will be ruining both the House and Senate, there will be a groundswell of turn-out .

Then by all means work to defeat him if you feel that strongly. The fact that Dems lie does not mean that all Repubs are paragons of virtue. Did you really mean state Senator? That would be in the "who cares" category.

The voters who will keep McConnell in the Senate like that idea.

Her sexual orientation is a matter of indifference. She's lying and she's been caught.

All politicians lie. They don't all have sex with their patients while committing adultery and threatening their spouse with violence and urging their mistresses to have abortions. I hope Nunn takes GA.

How can she be lying about an e3vent that has not in fact happened?

Good for you. Your post is a non sequitur.

She's lying.

Did you use a time machine to go and check in the future? Explain how she is lying. Repeating a lie over and over does not make it true. For once, defend what you say.

and the Washington Post is not some minor league rag
Neither is Politico and they have one of the biggest conservative hacks in the business writing for them--Rich Lowry .

repeal the 17th.

Keep the 17th to prevent gerry-mandered statehouses from appointing their lackies to the Senate, the reason we have the 17th.
Passed by progress--ives in both political parties beginning with President T. Roosevelt .

repeal the 17th to eliminate lobbying in Washington, stop having laws being created for special interest.

Based on all historical precedent she is extremely unlikely to follow through on her stated aim. Freshman Senators don't get to do that.

So she has not lied, but she might in the future? So basically you got caught lying in the present about her lying in the future, which is hilariously amusing. Well done!

THANK GOD!

Finally someone is on top of this corruption. Let's see, in the story we read about a Democratic woman candidate who is promising to change the way assholes like war monger racist Las Vegas man and all around jerk Harry Reid get the third most important post in the land. It suggests that this Senator, if elected, would not keep her promise resulting in the complaint that Democrats lie.

I am so relieved to find out that A - Republicans can read minds and predict what they will and won't and that Republicans never do the same.

Phew! I am glad we sorted that out.
