Mitchell, Woodall, and Bishop retiring mean Democrats are likely to flip a few seats even lacking a wave election, which means thy are likely to retain their majority in the House to at least 2022, as it's hard to imagine the GOP flipping 25 seats anytime soon.

Hurd supports the republican party.

Hurd has said that he will vote for Trump again if he is the Republican nominee in 2020.

"While Congress has a role in these issues, so does the private sector and civil society," he said. "After reflecting on how best to help our country address these challenges, I’m leaving the House of Representatives to help our country in a different way."

That's too bad. Hurd is a good man. Former CIA officer. Young and very intelligent. Maybe he got tired of being expected to stick his nose up Trump's read end.

Plus, it seems like the GOP used him, well, as a token black for many years. Tim Alberta talks a bit about how Hurd was an ambitious guy who did not want to be seen as "The Black GOP Congressman," but could never get past that barrier with his GOP colleagues, in American Carnage.

IMO the internet, and mass human migrations, mean kids today area lot less likely to be racist as they talk to people around the world.

I'm not saying all Republicans are racists, but they didn't use the racist Southern Strategy for over 1/2 a decade without reason.
