I'm shocked honestly that this type of thing doesn't happen more often than it does. This speaks to the incredible training and patience of so many police officers.
The guys filming this whole thing did this as a set up (they got what they wanted, sort of) and they were being complete assholes. I wanted to punch the cameraman just from listening to him.
The cop should be punished because he lost control and went too far. At the same time, I don't fault him for his actions. If it were me, I would have sent the cameraman to the hospital, but I'm not a police officer either.

It is not that hard to not be an asshole, flipping people off or pushing them even when in the face of dicks trying to provoke you.I'm shocked honestly that this type of thing doesn't happen more often than it does. This speaks to the incredible training and patience of so many police officers.

I pretty much have... bartender and food server for 15 years and high school teacher for 20. Fights. Threats. Gangs. Chefs. Bouncers. Assholes.I think its only fair that you should work every day with assholes in your face "trying to provoke you" Bodi. After all, thats how you want Police to work. You should be willing to do it too, a bunch of fatherless punks in your face all day.
Sound good? Man up.
It's harder than you realize, at least for police officers. It is not that hard to not be an asshole, flipping people off or pushing them even when in the face of dicks trying to provoke you.
Most cops, at least now days... walk up calm, take a breath, are polite. It's harder than you realize, at least for police officers.
These folks put their life on the line every single day. They've been shot at, targeted, they're called names by the leftists morons and they've seen things that only soldiers and Marines in battle have seen.
Many cops are overworked, and like anyone they occasionally have a bad day. He gets called out to see these assclowns tying up a public servant in an effort to ambush him for a video where he gets called names repeatedly in an effort to make a name for themselves. He loses his cool, which is understandable, but he acted in a way that will get him in trouble.
I agreeMost cops, at least now days... walk up calm, take a breath, are polite.
That's an article from 2020. The numbers have changed since then.police being shot at is not that high and is going down. Also, cops are trained that they are under attack.

How Often Are Police Shot in the Line of Duty?
New research on officers killed and injured in shootings shows a dangerous profession — but not one that’s getting riskier.www.thetrace.org

That’s just brilliant. Keep intentionally provoking law enforcement for a “gotcha”…
There are assholes everywhere and every type of service industry has to deal with them. If that were a McDonald's worker, they'd probably be going to jail (and no question about being fired).
Cops are paid big bucks. They need to act professionally even in the face of hostility. They aren't given a badge to enforce their egos.
They are also human beings. And yes that officer has to be charged.
That said, It doesn’t excuse the troglodytic behavior on the part of these people who attempt to gaslight LE for a viral moment.
Never said that it did. But their "crimes", if they can be called them that, are ones of being douchebags...not of breaking the law.
They also aren't paid to be professional...the cops are.
Never said they were breaking the law.
It doesn’t mean people should go out of their way to to “test” how professional they act either.
Can we agree on that?
Somewhat. I mean...I don't think I would ever go out and act that way. I'm not a douchebag.
But free speech is messy. It's never the bright, flowery, pretty speech that needs protection. It's the "I eat ass" banner on one's car. It's porn or "offensive" art (Piss Jesus comes to mind). It's speech critical of one's government.
Were these guys saying anything worth saying? IMO, it's pretty base stuff. Pretty crass and stupid behavior. But then again, I still will defend their right to say it.
Nothing to do with the topic at all.Meh... You realize that for the last 2 years running, the biggest killer of cops has been COVID, right?
When we see people targeting truck drivers, roofers, garbage men, farmers and construction workers, then and only then will you have a valid point. In terms of the most dangerous jobs in the US, cops have a less dangerous job than truck drivers, roofers, garbage men, farmers, construction workers... Cops may have a dangerous job compared to mine (I sit behind a computer all day), but comparatively speaking, not so dangerous.
Did they volunteer to put their lives on the line every day to serve and protect ungrateful pieces of shit like the ****sticks filing the interaction or did they choose to sit behind a computer all day?Did anyone make them become cops?
It isnt an excuse for his actions, I've already made that clear that he went too far and that he should be punished. Perhaps in your misguided need to argue with someone, anyone, you missed that part.I'll use this as an excuse in court next time... "Your honor, my assaulting someone doesn't matter. I was having a bad day!"
I don't think what he did should land him behind bars, but he does deserve to be punished. He acted in a way that was completely unprofessional and should land him behind bars.
I don't disagree.There is no excuse.

It puts into perspective how "dangerous" being a cop really is.
They obviously aren't targeting cops much, either...since they get hurt so seldom that they have a less dangerous job than being a truck driver, roofer, garbage man, farmer or construction worker...
First, cops aren't volunteering...they're paid very well.
Second, that's the job. Go to just about any service industry and it's the same job...the only difference is that the regular service industry worker would go to jail for assaulting someone.
Glad we agree on that part, at least!
I do. Fired, then prosecuted. Anyone without a badge would be subject to prosecution...why should the people we pay to ENFORCE the laws be treated any differently. In fact, because they are in a position of power and tasked with upholding the law, I believe they should be treated more harshly under the law...not less.
