Giuliani moves toward presidential bid
POSTED: 3:24 p.m. EST, February 5, 2007

...The problem, Navy, is that the bank that you have been telling us to "take it to".....has been bankrupt for a long long time.

I wouldn't mind Guilliani. He is moderate on most social issues. He doesn't have a right-wing agenda like GWB...and won't be influenced by people like Rumsfield and Cheney. However, how is Guiliani going to get past the primaries? Do you think that the neo-con/right-wing's control of the party has been comprised to such an extent that true Republicans will regain control of the party? I hope you are right. I would love to see Guiliani get the nomination and I would love to see legitimacy returned to the Republican party.

Staking you position on '08 already, eh?

I'm still amazed at the accuracy of your predictions for the Nov 06 Congressional elections.

Nov 06 was as bad time for me but I aced my picks in 2000, 2002, and 2004...........How did you do then?;)

Like I told your Bunk Buddy I did alright in 2000, 2002, and 2004 with my predictions.........How did you do? ;)

As far as Rudy on the social issues go he said he is not for Gay Marriage and when asked why he marched in Gay pride parades he said he marched in all parades in NY.......He also said he would nominate judges like Alieto and Roberts who are strict constructionists............My major argument with him on social issues is he is pro choice when it comes to abortion..........

He is strong on the war on terror and in Iraq and on defense and fiscal issues so those trump my differences on abortion......

As far as the far right wing of the party I think they want to keep the presidency so they would hold their nose and vote for Rudy........

2008 presidential election asside np, you still owe me 36 hrs. my prediction for 2006 100 on 100, your prediction dead wrong.
As for this 08 difficult to say
Guliani supports the presidents position on the war. The rest of America is quite weary of this war as well as the promise after promise after promise that's it's going to get better. This recent troop surge has done nothing of benefit but more deaths as well as the single greatest suicide bombing since the occupation.

A socially moderate but fiscal conservative with a strong stance on issues of national security. I like it.

Is he pro life? Please say yes.

Interesting analysis. However, despite what he says, I would doubt highly that Guiliani would nominate Alieto or even Roberts. They were nominated because of Bush's right-wing agenda. I think Guilliani would appoint more moderate Judges as he has done in NY.
One thought though....I agree that the right-wing will vote for whoever the Republican candidate is...but the bigger question is....do they have enough influence to keep Guiliani out? I think that is the bigger question because he is clearly not their candidate. But their really isn't a strong neo-con/right-wing candidate right now....that could change. I think the right-wing would rather have Frist or Gingritch...but neither really has a chance. Anyways....it will definitely be interesting and fun to watch what happens.

I generally don't try to prognosticate these kinds of things.

Guilliani has never been under a microscope like he is going to be.
Lets see what comes out...........;)

Anyways...Sorry guys but its going to be a SHE and not a HE as out next Prez..

Just wait and see.

Rudy Giuliani on the Issues

I really can't see how Giuliani gets past the primary...unless moderate Republicans are able to get control of the party. The only way Giuliani gets the right-wing/neocons, or even hard core conservatives is if they start to think that he is the only candidate that can beat the Democratic nominee. Otherwise, he is way too moderate to get the nom.

that is true. He's divorced - wont' sit well with the GOP base. He also supports abortions - again won't sit well with the republican base - thus how will he pass the primaries?

Bro its going to be a she...and we all know her name...;)
Her hubby didn’t inhale..lol...and didn’t have sex with that woman.... .

Black guy? Not yet. I'm thinking we will have a Lady as the Prez first but I wouldn’t mind to seeing C. Powel run.

Ok some are asking why am I saying she will win. Well its like this, she cant do worse then bush. (come on that was funny)

I have heard die hard FLORIDA Reps saying these same words. "Its about time we had a woman as the President". This will CUT across all party lines and all beliefs.

You should watch Hannity and Colmes sometime becasue Hannity just had and interview with Rudy and he said he would nominate a Roberts or and Alieto....He even said he would nominate a Scalia becasue he worked with him in New York and all three men are strict constructionists that interpret the Constitution and don't make law............

The right wing would nominate Rudy because they know he is a sure winner no matter who the Democrats nominate.........

hat is true. He's divorced - wont' sit well with the GOP base.

Reagan was divorced; the "GOP base" didn't seem to mind much 20+ years ago; but I'll admit, they have regressed since then.

My Republican 2008 "Dream Ticket"...Gingrich and Rice...and I don't care which is Pres and which is VP, because whichever is Pres will be re-elected in 12, then the other will win in 16 and 20, making Republicans hold the office until 24 when I am 69...since I will probably be dead by then, I'm good to go...my kids need to take over anyway...

On Fox the other night he said he,s strongly opossed to it personally but supports a womens right to choose.

I'm a republican and I would vote for him in a NY minute. Yes he has some issues that will not sit right with really far right conservative but I think he could get most of the moderate ones and a lot of the moderate Dems.
