Kneel for the anthem and get benched

What did you previously believe was the reason?

Well i think most people thought this was the reason, I'm surprised that Jerry hasn't said it before now though

Pretending everyone agrees, via non disclosure, was better for PR until authoritarian policy was green lit by the government.

I expect to see most teams go this way sooner rather than later. The handwriting is on the wall. Spectators just don't like the disrespect and they're paying customers.

It'd be nice to see some other form of protest take the place of this disrespect and then everyone could be happy.

Good. Fire or bench protestors.

They can protest on their own time...

Trump has no power over the NFL owners... lol.

NFL owners don’t need permission from the government to bench players.

Would like to see the whole team kneel and see what he does.

I noticed watching the NY - Chargers game, they didn't broadcast the anthem part at all. I guess that's a simple solution.

Forfeit the game Nopeand dock all the players pay for 1 game. Yup

I can't imagine what that would cause, forfeiting the game. Minds would be blown.

It won't matter because people won't watch until they stand but it surprises me that the networks are not trying to hide it more.

Truthfully too I suspect the majority of the players don't support the players that are kneeling either and would not agree to kneeling as a team.

Right, because loss of revenue and viewership obviously have NOTHING to do with it.

"I'll show those NFL players daring to threaten my bottom line by directly hurting my own bottom line, that'll show 'em!"

As I said it's an unrealistic scenereo to begin with because the majority of players do not agree with kneeling but if they did, it would serve as reminder to them, of who is in charge. The owners are the boss. Players are employees and they have no right to harm the company without their boss's consent.

Now let’s see if they care enough to get to the stadium an hour early and demonstrate outside the stadium before the game. Yeah, that’ll be the day.

The players? It doesn't work that way, you're just setting a literally impossible standard in attempt to appear objective. Players give millions of dollars and countless hours in activism. Why don't you just accept that as proving their motives honest? Why, instead, do you set an impossible goal to prove themselves honest.

Why is it an impossible goal? Because it doesn’t work when they’re not doing it on the clock and offending their fans? I’m not objective at all. I think it’s a nonissue myself. Let them do it. And let the fans speak. I don’t think they’re sincere though because the very thing they are protesting about doesn’t exist. And really? They’re not protesting that anyway. They’re giving the middle finger to Trump.

That's my point exactly. Players get to the game many hours early and do not have free time before the game starts. They don't just throw on a pair of shorts and walk to the park.

Players spend millions and many hours of their own time in activism. Why do you ignore this reality and substitute an impossible task? Just accept the players are honest. Quit setting impossible goals to prove they're honest. Or just flat out admit that no matter what they do on their own time, you're gonna demonize them.

Let's say Joe spends millions of dollars and countless hours as an activist. I say, "Joe either holds a sign on the moon or we know he's just trying to piss people off."

Can you see what you're doing?
