Seeing as how we have been in a state of war with NK since 1950, and the 12 presidents who came before Trump were able to accomplish nothing with regard to NK, not sure why everybody is attacking Trump. To his credit, Trump tried a different approach with KIm but that seems to have worked little better than the other approach. NK is a nuclear power so our options are limited. Personally, I think Trump failed because he continued with the demands of his predecessors. Trump should accept the obvious--that Kim has nukes and will not give them up-and tie sanctions relief to an improvement in NK human rights record.
Trump is getting criticized, because not only did he give NK state news footage Kim craved, he completely lied upon returning from the summit. Trump said the nuclear threat was over, and it wasn’t. He said he was in love with Kim, and they wrote love letters. Kim doesn’t seem to love Trump in return, and Kim never had any intentions of giving up nukes.
Trump has zero political experience, and interacts with the world on a level of naïveté and ignorance we have never seen. I know you want to make excuse after excuse for him, but Trump constantly does this. He pulled American support from the Kurds, he trusts Putin and Saudi tyrants over US intelligence, he accuses Justin Trudeau and the Canadians are trying to burn down the White House and being an international threat to America, and he constantly says dumb stuff in front of the world. The man is clearly ignorant about the world, about American history, and about the US Constitution.
