Kerry Vows to Disprove Swift Boat Claims

What do you mean "keep asking"? When did I ask the first time?

OK why did you ask this time, his service record has been fully explained to you including your previous claim that he wasn't active duty debunked.

A National Guardsman is not considered to be on "active duty" unless the President calls upon their service. George Bush was never called to serve from the President, so he had not had "active duty." That is a fact, Jack.

As was pointed out before, Bush did two years active duty during his pilot training.

You don't know what they said do you? You don't know that most of those who tried to smear Kerry were exposed as partisan hacks, just like you are.

Over half of them were democrats.......

what a dumbass.

hey JOHN...DISPROVE THE ADs WHEN YOU'RE RUNNING...NOT 3 YEARS LATER.

Why Navy Pride, what does Clinton have to do with this thread?

What about your agreement with Captain Courtesy that he could give you points when you diverted after you had complained about someone else doing it?

Don't keep your agreements, eh?

Nohing but neither did President Bush who was brought up by your liberal friends........Bush served in the NG...........Clinton was a draft dodger........

Bush used his daddy's connections dodged Vietnam and partied .......... Clinton pursued a Rhodes scholarship.

Bush Served..........Clinton dodged the draft.....He even had his draft number but Senaor Fulbright got him out of it..........Clinton is a womanizing, pot smoking draft dodger and unconvicted rapist, perjurer.....Other then that he is not all bad.......

Yes, I am fully aware that Bush served in the National Guard. Did he go to Vietnam? How is it that he was able to avoid going?

I notice that you are incapable of addressing my comment about D ick Cheney since you know his behavior wasn't any different than Willie's.

Cheney had kids......Men with kids were not drafted........

I notice you did not mention Clinton.........

Isn't everybody an unconvicted rapist that hasn't been convicted of rape?

Navy Pride is an unconvicted rapist. Barack Obama will get a kick out of this one.:rofl

Nope, only people that are accused of rape and not convicted are unconvicted rapists.......

You make me laugh.:rofl

Isn't it true that you haven't been convicted of rape? (Be careful how you answer this.;) )

I have not been accused of it..........Unlike you I don't have to rape to get a woman..........:rofl

How much do they charge?:rofl

Wow, this has become one thick thread. The Swift Boat stuff did not matter a whit to me in the last election. So here is my layman’s take on it, some of the claims made were true and some were not.

In the end, were some of Kerry’s claims helpful to the Swift Boaters? Was he not somewhat to blame for some of it? Fair or unfair, when he decided to run for POTUS did he not have to face the same torch wielding forces all POTUS candidates must face?

Stinger, why don't you provide me with evidence that George Bush had active duty during those two years. I want proof. Thank you.

Excuse me? Men with kids were not drafted? Can you provide me evidence of such assertion?

I don't dispute Clinton's draft dodging.

Edited to add article on Cheney and his 5 deferments. He had more important things to be doing. So it took him 6 years to get through college? How impressive in a Vice President. NOT.

Eventually, like 16 million other young men of that era, Mr. Cheney sought deferments. By the time he turned 26 in January 1967 and was no longer eligible for the draft, he had asked for and received five deferments, four because he was a student and one for being a new father.

Although President Richard M. Nixon stopped the draft in 1973 and the war itself ended 29 years ago on Friday, the issue of service remains a personally sensitive and politically potent touchstone in the biographies of many politicians from that era. . . .

He said he "never served" because of deferments to finish a college career that lasted six years rather than four, which he attributed to subpar academic performance and the fact that he had to work to pay for his education.

He added that he "would have obviously been happy to serve had I been called."

Away from the hearing room, he told the Washington Post that he had sought his deferments because "I had other priorities in the 60's than military service."

It is always funny to watch those who didn't serve besmirch someone elses service.

Looks like the gang can’t prove any of the swift boat claims so they derailed. That isn’t surprising, what is surprising is they would bring Bushes….caugh, caugh,.. War record into the fray.

Lets take a look at the claim that Bush was on, active duty claims, Of course that don’t count the time he was ….AWOL,…another cough coming on, working on a campaign in Alabama.

Well George says to himself, self, there is a war going on, and I think I will help where I can, maybe daddy can get me into the air guard.

Q. What is my yearly commitment to the Air Guard and how long must I enlist for?

A. You have an option of enlisting for either 3 or 6 years. Your commitment to the Air Guard is typically working one weekend each month and 15 annual training days every year.

Air National Guard: Frequently Asked Questions

So in February 1968 (the year that 2000 American lives were lost in country) Bush takes an Air Force officers test Scores in 25th percentile in the pilot aptitude portion. Declares that he does not wish to serve overseas and he is now serving his country 15 training days a year when he feels like it. I guess that is what makes him able to make the following quote.

More stats for the statically inclined ==

So much for the claim that he served so honorably.

<On Aug. 1, 1972, Lt. Bush was suspended from flying status, due to failure to accomplish his annual medical examination. That document was released years ago. But another document has not been seen until now. It’s a memo that Col. Jerry Killian put in his own file that same day. It says "on this date, I ordered that 1st Lt. Bush be suspended not just for failing to take a physical…. but for failing to perform to U.S. Air Force/Texas Air National Guard standards.">

I'm curious who told you different or are you just guessing? This is common knowledge. YOu were told this just last month in another thread.

This almost three years ago

YES he does.

How do you think he got trained and became an officer? ALL ANG pilots did active duty before going into the reserves.

Bush graduated from Combat Crew Training School on June 23, 1970, having fulfilled his two years of active duty. But he still flew the F-102 Delta Daggers a few times a month; his unit kept two of the fighters, fully armed, on round-the-clock alert and needed the pilots to man them.

He also volunteered for further active duty including Vietnam

Air National Guard members could volunteer for active duty service with the Air Force in a program called Palace Alert, which deployed F-102 pilots to Europe and Southeast Asia, including Vietnam and Thailand. According to three pilots from Bush's squadron, Bush inquired about this program but was advised by the base commander that he did not have the necessary experience (500 hours) at the time and that the F-102 was outdated.[6]
