I think it's natural not to want to see a young teenager like Josh arrested, which might be why everyone kept mum, but they may not have had to. When I worked CPS, in cases like this, if it was the first time, they got a chance to get help and straighten out without being arrested, as long as the kid was contrite and the parents were on board. It was the police's call. The police were always in on the interviews and had the incident on file, so if there was another report, they lowered the boom.

They did HAVE to get help, though, and precautions put in place to protect the siblings. No praying it away. I don't recall any repeats, so I'm guessing therapy worked?

We always had a rule of thumb. When under ten, playing doctor is not a capital offense. However, teenagers fondling five-year-olds get reported. I suspect there is even a law that mandates it.

Yeah, we had some teenage creep "teach" our six-eight, maybe ten year old nephew to masturbate. WTF?

He was immediately reported and spent time in juvie for that act of sexual abuse.

Glad you all found out!

I notice Arkansas has a statute of limitations on reporting child sexual abuse. Maine doesn't and shouldn't, because so often victims don't tell until they're adults.

The younger kid told his mom, my wife' sister. She noticed porn had been accessed on the computer, and he was the only suspect. That's when he said the other boy (another relative) was "showing him things."

Couple of things.

I honestly don't think the reality of the molestation was the top concern for Jim Bob. It was the fall out that would follow in it's path. Not only with TLC paying him $$$$ to film his little circus, but also all the sponsors donating things like diapers, appliances and all expense paid vacations. That cash cow would (and did) hit the pasture with such news. But through rebranding the show (using his daughters) Jim Bob managed to keep all that cash coming in.

As far as getting help, they (JB&M) refused Josh be sent to a legit known type of rehab because in their eyes Josh would be surrounded by sexual deviants. One of the church elders mentioned the place Josh was eventually sent to.

Jim Bob Duggar told Springdale detective Hignite in 2006 that he sent his son to a Christian ministry in "the old Veteran's Hospital in Little Rock." Duggar said he couldn't remember the name of the program, but it involved "hard physical work and counseling."

Michelle Duggar told police that the place her son was sent "was not really a training center" but that Josh went to work for a "guy they knew in Little Rock who is remodeling a building." Asked whether the guy was a mentor, Michelle Duggar replied, "kind of."

Pulaski County assessor's records show the nearly 500,000-square-foot former VA hospital building was purchased by Hobby Lobby in 1998.

The craft-store company then donated the building in 2000 to the Institute in Basic Life Principles, an Illinois-based ministry founded by televangelist Bill Gothard.

Duggar had a program on his computer called "Covenant Eyes," which the agent described as "accountability software" that monitors and reports objectionable internet use to a partner and is meant to help people with porn addictions. According to Faulkner, the program was registered to Duggar and would send reports to his wife, Anna.
