Jordan Peterson is brilliant - If you disagree and dislike him or object to his views, make your case.

The carnivore diet. He claims to eat nothing but meat.
Yup... His daughter was the one who discovered that and it's the only thing that has worked for her in her entire life. Her story is interesting to say the least.

Ah, the "lion diet."

I wonder if Ted Cruz has adopted that diet.

Nevertheless, his social stances do align themselves with conservative groups and causes.
Ones alignment with a certain side of an issue, doesn't necessarily mean they align themselves with any particular group or cause. For example, the KKK is against affirmative action hiring practices, but the fact that I disagree with affirmative action, doesn't mean I align myself with the KKK.

The thing with these types is their talent of reading their audiences responses to their lecture, mantra and whatnot, then rewarding them with more of the same.
Here's another

I am not trying to change the topic, just hinting at methodology.
One of my dearest friends has gone over the deep end with that one.

Jordan Peterson is not only brilliant, but is a true force for good in western society. He's an expert on human behavior and 20th century history with an ability to objectively and scientifically break down and detail the ideological origins of various beliefs and movements taking place around the world, as well as point out their assets, their flaws, and the likelihood of how they will play out in the future.

Far too often I see those of you on the left attack and criticize Jordan Peterson personally, as a psychologist, and on things he says that cross into the political domain. People will claim he's been discredited, therefore anything he has to say is invalid and not worthy of consideration or discussion. So if you disagree with me and dislike Peterson, think he's evil, think he's spouts alt-right hate, believe he uses pseudo science, or simply thinks he talks out of his ass and his opinions shouldn't be considered as valid points for discussion, then I invite you to make your case here and now.

First understand that when I say "make your case" the emphasis is on the word "your". Don't post a link to what some journalist claims he said. If you have an opinion about something you claim he said, show me what he said yourself. Peterson has hundreds and hundreds of hours of videos on YouTube that include his college lectures, public speaking engagements, press interviews and panel discussions from around the world, interviews on podcasts, his own podcast where he interviews others, and several public debates with the worlds top thinkers and intellectuals. He even did a TEDx talk. What I'm saying is, YOU back up your claim with direct evidence, not with the claims of someone else.

Here's an example of someone who made claims about Peterson's views and beliefs, claimed he could substantiate it, but ultimately never did and disappeared from the discussion:

You have the floor...

The major complaint I see most people having with him, is not that he simply promotes personal responsibility and discipline he says it's necessary in order to thrive. And if you aren't thriving it's probably lack of personal responsibility and/or discipline.

People don't like to hear this, particularly people on the left. Much of the left wing culture is about not being responsible or disciplined at all.

Fat acceptance movement is strictly left wing because obese people don't want to control themselves. Crying about racism is blaming problems on society.

The left hates him because they never matured. He is like a dad explaining what it takes to be a man and the left wants to party all night. This is why they support socialism. They prefer to be taken care of by a parent.

It's really rather sad.

The fact that people think of responsibility and discipline as right wing extremism is a big time indictment on the morality of the left.

I dunno, Grim... maybe this just isn't my cup of tea? I don't usually buy into pop-psychology 12-steps to the answer of everything stuff. I'm not saying that's what he's peddling... it's just how it strikes me.

The way I figure it, if his arguments have merit, and you buy into them... then try adapting them in here to beat us over the head with them. Proof is in the pudding. If his shit is weak it won't take someone like @Cardinal or @Hamish Howl or some other razor blade philosopher around here to cut it up.

Yeah, so how are you gonna know the twerp's arguments if you don't subject yourself to them?

Jordan Peterson is a man with a lot of strong opinions about many things. Some of them are valid and interesting. Others are simply ignorant. I do enjoy his discussion of the psychology of belief and ideology. And I appreciate that he condemns "identity politics" as practiced by both the right and left wing. Not that I agree with his assessments, but he tries not to politically align himself too strongly, despite taking primarily conservative stances on social issues.
I have listened to and read a lot of Jordan Peterson; I suppose I agree with him say 80% of the time. Even when I don't I have never thought him ignorant. I have no trouble accepting that it may possibly be me that is the one who is ignorant.

Btw Petersen might say that opinions, as opposed to evidence based logical arguments, are by their nature, neither valid or invalid.

But it does mean that your views on affirmative action are in alignment with those held by the KKK. If that's okay with you then so be it.

I would say the KKK does support affirmative action. They just want it to favor white people.

It's the same thing just the other side of the coin.

I favor merit based achievement. Your race or ethnic background shouldn't matter.

Interesting video.

A 'beef, lamb, water, and salt'-only diet doesn't make nutritional sense to me, and I suspect that's not her actual diet. It seems that they could find and maybe even fund someone to do some evidence-based research on that, if there are 'thousands of people eating like that and getting good results' (at least in the short term).

Jordan Peterson is not necessarily brilliant nor saying anything all that terribly original, but he does have a name not by his own doing but rather how far off the deep end modern liberalism has taken identity politics. Which is to say Peterson is neither a White Nationalist nor really someone speaking to the far right who would channel flip between the FoxNews commentary evening lineup and OANN.

If anything, he is pushing back on what is easily described as the authoritarian left who are all swimming in a giant pool of political correctness, woke cancel culture liberalism, and overall a group who purposefully seeks out people to vilify at every step no matter what they do or why.

It is no wonder that Peterson can come along with '12 Rules for Life' and find himself on the best seller list.

Nothing rude or earth shattering and the simplicity will eat the left up inside with anger and hatred. He may question white privilege as described by a group who are entirely interested in branding people but also entirely uninterested in doing something about racism. He may question how little we know about kids raised outside of a "traditional family" and point out the hypocrisy of the left advocating for what feels good in this case without consideration for much else. How he approaches the subject of MeToo will always bother those who subscribe to the ideology that everyone is guilty of harassments as everyone white is guilty of white privilege.

Now I do not agree with everything that Peterson says and I doubt I ever will but it stands to perfect reason why someone like him will come along and upset all the cancel culture keyboard warriors determined to silence and vilify everyone who speaks out of line.

I can see the Sanders, Warren, and AOC loving left become entirely enflamed and literally act as militant as we already see the far left to be.

Which is really all modern liberalism has become, a bunch of whiny brats entirely incapable of accepting there may be alternate opinion from someone who 20 years ago would be a moderate gaining no attention.

But today... OMG, Racist and Misogynistic! Vilify and cancel is the order from the left.

Because it is all they have these days.

Conservatives eat that pablum up like a lion eating a zebra.

The main reason the left hates him is because of his views on the far left's identity politics ideology. There are many people out there that rail against identity politics, but what makes Peterson different than the other detractors is 1) him being a clinical phycologist and expert on 20th century world history, he can articulate precisely what identity politics is, how it's implemented, the danger it poses, and the devastating effects it will have on our society... and 2) his perspective isn't a political one. It's derived from his intellect, his vast knowledge of history, and his expertise in human behavior as a clinical phycologist, making it extremely difficult for people to discredit or dismiss.

What's "the far left's identity politics ideology"? Post something short that shows his views.

What a surprise... Three video that express other people's opinions rather than your own... Did you ever give any thought to the possibility that you're being manipulated and lied to?

One day you should try doing your own research and forming your own opinions, rather than relying on others to do your thinking for you... Just a suggestion.

I think Peterson's greatest strength is he considers every argument against him. You can see it when he's in a debate particularly with another academic type person. He'll pause, and contemplate before he gives a response.

I think his distance from politics is a strength though many people try to drag others into politics on order to make the personal political

The left hates him because of his position on discipline, and the fact that he is indeed an academic.

I don't see him as right wing just more of a shrink and I mean that in the least derogatory way. Such people are really good at helping people see hope
