John Kelly, hired to restore order for President Donald Trump, is out as chief of staff

Rumours are Pence's chief of staff...He is White , abrasive, white, loyal to trump, and white

Sounds like he is qualified. But is he WHITE and STRAIGHT???

There's no controversy here.

The controversy is the NUMBER of 'the very best people' trump has hired and then "resign" or "retire'. I believe it is over 100 ...in LESS than 2 years.

trump thinks he is still hosting The Apprentice.

Trump wanted Mad Dog Mattis because he had a cool nickname.

True story.

I have no sympathy for the boot lickers that worked for Trump that he ends up attacking when they leave..

Over the past 3 years or so Trump's MO concerning people who have worked for him is as plain as day.

Big tough Marine General groveling at the feet of Trump for over a year. Now Trump will go on the attack... Too bad. Kelly should have told Trump to shove it months ago.

Of course he did.:wink2:

Trump never fires anyone. Individual 1 doesn't have the balls to do it himself. Acting on Trump's direction Kelly always calls the firee on the phone and gives them a choice of resigning or being fired. This time the SOP presented a problem in Kelly's resignation. I would imagine using a separate number Kelly called his work phone and left a message to himself that he could resign or Trump would throw his butt over the fence.

Okay we understand each other.

Yes, General Kelly is typically the man who fires people so it would be difficult to Trump to fire him. He resigned or quit his job.

Too bad it didn't happen to Kelly exactly as it happened when he threatened and caustically fired Omarosa.

I'll never understand how a previously reputable four star could assent to participate in the corrupt Trump administration.

I used to say that Mattis, Tillerson, Kelly and McMaster were my “tripwires” to start worrying. It’s not looking good for me...or Mattis.

Yep, and he consistently down-grades his staff. His initial hires were mostly C and B players. Now we are seeing a staff comprised of D and C players..... but, he gets the "best" people.

Other than Nikki Haley, no Trump staffer ever leaves the White House looking better than they entered. Why anyone would work for this buffoon is beyond comprehension.... unless, of course, they were "D" players.

Kelly's statement that women are "sacred" rings hollow, like that empty barrel he spoke about.

Maybe he disguised his voice so that he wouldn't recognize himself.

We laugh but in the Trump White House it is a scenario that I could see happening. Hell, I'm guessing most people still working in the WH go to work wearing masks. I have no doubt that everyone working in the White House has a "walkout box" packed and sitting on their desks. When the inevitable day comes that they are fired all they need to do is pick up the box on their desk and walk out escorted by Capitol Police.

He lasted longer than I expected he would. As soon as the media started predicting then praising Kelly for his ability to manage the barely manageable Trump, I thought that would be "the beginning of the end". But Kelly lasted for a long time after that in spite of the reputation as one of the few grown-ups in the White House.

Ummmmmmmmmm. Trump did not appoint Kelly to manage the president and that was not his job after he got it. Again, you're drinking too much of the liberal kool aid. People get appointed by Trump, not to manage Trump.

Donald Trump truly does bring out the worst in people. Nikki Haley may benefit from having worked for Trump. It's too early to tell. There are perhaps a couple of others, but that's debatable. In almost all instances people working close to Trump have or will have their reputations sullied and their futures darkened. As far as I can see that has been the case since Trump was in business and continues to this day.

Donald Trump is not a leader. He has been adept at times in finding a parade he can jump in front of for the sake of appearance. That has been his best shot until always and inevitably he drags everything connected to him into the sewer with him. Happens every time.

That very first round of appointees might have thought that they were in a situation where actual service could take place in spite of the president being deeply flawed on a personal level.

After a few months it had to be apparent to anyone with a brain and an ounce of honesty that the flaws went way beyond the personal level and affected everything Trump touched. But at the beginning, I can see how even people with ethics and a healthy sense of self-preservation could say yes and not see what they had sentenced themselves to. How could anyone know how bad Trump could be? He pulled off the greatest con of all time in hiding his insanity as well as he did. Now there's no hiding because the spotlight is on all the time and Trump can't shut up. But ... in the beginning ... ambitious, qualified, service-oriented people could be excused for not realizing how bad he really was.

That's actually incorrect. If you haven't noticed it yet you soon will. The adults in the room, Trump's handlers, have for the most part exited. Many were fired, some left as soon as possible. What we are seeing and are about to see is a Trump "unplugged". No enhancements, no buffers, no guidance. It has been ugly and it is becoming worse by the day now.

We are talking about a man of low character who was not a good businessman and certainly was not a good manager in the business world. He is a person who by all accounts can't read, won't read and doesn't read. He is a president who doesn't understand even the basics of how government functions. It remains a mystery to him. He apparently is so brutally incurious that he has no knowledge of history or geography.

People - staff - who worked for Trump attempted at least to help Trump wind through the basics of all that he doesn't understand. Now many of the best around him have gone or he has marginalized them as his massive ego, his malignant narcissism cannot tolerate anyone having knowledge he cannot and/or refuses to possess.

Trump is undoubtably his own worst enemy. There were people with expertise and knowledge to assist him and advise him. Trump will not be advised. And now as his past is catching up with him Trump finds himself alone facing a reality he cannot understand, one he is incapable of accepting, though he is the one who created it. We are soon to see the real Trump.

My only guess is that he figured he could keep the boy king from ****ing things up too badly.

As I said, you guys are drinking out of the liberal kool aid propaganda machine.

They are going for a record in staff turnover. Not sure how they can stay organised , stable long enough to actually do something that they have been voted in to do. This is one massive and messy soap opera. Where is the true LEADERSHIP?? Not sure ANYONE c an work for trump.........as he is too unstable.

And as things close in on him........ he will only get more erratic. This is not even a "left" or "right" issue......it is a Leadership ISSUE.

Sounds like he is qualified. But is he WHITE and STRAIGHT???

Pretty sure he is straight....At least he'll be forced to say he is....trump is showing some diversity in this pick...Most of the flunkies around him are old white men...This guy is a younger white man.....

He has no time to read, he said: “I never have. I’m always busy doing a lot. Now I’m more busy, I guess, than ever before.”
Trump’s desk is piled high with magazines, nearly all of them with himself on their covers, and each morning, he reviews a pile of printouts of news articles about himself that his secretary delivers to his desk. But there are no shelves of books in his office, no computer on his desk.
