“Former President Jimmy Carter has decided to receive hospice care after several short hospital stays, according to a statement from the Carter Center Saturday.

“After a series of short hospital stays, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter today decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention,” the statement reads. “He has the full support of his family and his medical team.”

I didn’t support Carter, as President, but have developed great respect for him over the decades since.

A truly good man who has led an exemplary life.

guts .......

Jimmy Carter is a very fine man who has led a remarkable life. I wish him some quality times with the family he loves so much, and then a painless and peaceful passing.

Same here. A very good man. His book, Palestine: Peace, not Apartheid is excellent.

Agree--------how we could use his character in our leaders today.....

I just saw this in the news. I'm sorry that he's in his final days. I have a lot of respect for him, and wish the best for him and for his family.

God Speed Sir

I was just a kid when we moved to South Georgia in 1976. Man o' man were there Jimmy Carter signs EVERYWHERE! Every house seemed to have a personal picture of Jimmy on their wall standing with them. I'm definitely going to miss him. Popping up from time to time for some humantarian assistance of some sort somewhere. Amazing man.

OMG this is so sad but yes, ninety-eight is a pretty good run.
I just hate to lose this man, one of the very remaining good, honest decent Christians who tried his best to lead by example.
I concur with this. A man who acknowledged his imperfections, was not particularly suited for the office of president, but certainly represented Christianity in a way politicians today would find impossible to reconcile with their political ambitions, i.e. more closely aligned with Christ's teachings.

Godspeed sir, and congratulations on a long life well lived.
