Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush on Thursday declined to rule out resuming the use of torture under some circumstances by the U.S. government.
"I don't want to make a definitive, blanket kind of statement," Bush told an audience of Iowa Republicans, when asked whether he would keep in place or repeal President Barack Obama's executive order banning so-called enhanced interrogation techniques by the CIA.

I wonder how he'd feel if GWB was tortured while being interrogated wrt his war crimes?

Would you be so kind as to post exactly what war crimes GWB actually committed? With a link to a legitimate legal organization that corroborates your accusation?

And, by the way, I've been water-boarded. It ain't torture. It ain't fun, but it ain't torture.

GWB didn't commit any war crimes. I bet that statement was done for the anti-conservative, over the top drama effect.

It is from Huffpo. I don't read spin. Have any valid sources? I also am not against some torture but I am a cold blooded bastard.

He's trying to work himself out from being under the stigma of being seen as reasonable.

Waterboarding is torture.

Lots of politicians were informed on the "enhanced interrogation techniques," some of them democrat, and i believe that none of them tried to stop it. I condemn them right along there with President Bush 2's administration.

President Bush 2's administration could be charged for war crimes. He won't be, but there's a case there.

I think, if you believe waterboarding isn't torture, you should simply look outside of the conservative news bubble to define torture.

Ever been water-boarded? I have. If you have not, I'll take my own first hand knowledge and experience over your opinion.

True. All senior members of both houses of Congress as well as a number of committee members of national security oriented committees were briefed and made aware of what was going on. No one said diddly squat.

Have at it. That's your right.

President Bush 2's administration could be charged for war crimes.
Evidence and citations of exactly what laws were broken.

Please see previous.

You have no clue who or what I am. You've made some serious assumptions about me that make you unfortunately look rather foolish.

Whatever. I don't think torture is necessarily a bad thing. I also don't think most people even know what waterboarding is. Oh no, waterboarding!!!!!!

Of course W, nor Cheney, nor Rumsfeld will ever be determined to have committed war crimes because they will never face the world court. I'm inclined to believe that any President would be officially well distanced from a directive to use torture, how much, how often and all that would be involved. If W were to go before a world court it would be a waste time.

Cheney and/or Rumsfeld would be a different story.

IMHO Jeb was damned if he did and damned if he didn't no matter how he might have answered because it is fairly accepted that there was indeed torture under his brother's administration. Again, no connection to W can ever be determined.

To tell you the truth I'm still waiting on Hannity to be waterboarded as he promised he would do.

Don't you get it yet? It's only torture if THEY say it's torture.

Watching Hannity being waterboarded would be fun. Bet he wouldn't last 30 seconds.

So since waterboarding isn't torture, can we sign you up to be "not tortured?"

I didn't say it wasn't torture. I said I wasn't against little torture, Get your posts straight.

As a reasonable person I'm saddened that bush wolfowitz, Cheney and Rumsfeld dare not travel outside the U.S. I so wish they would.

I don't believe in the torture of US Citizens because it is unconstitutional. We should be careful with torturing foreign prisoners of war because they may feel justified to do the same to their American prisoners.

Do unto foreign prisoners as you want our enemies to do to US prisoners.

Torture:
the action or practice of inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment or to force them to do or say something, or for the pleasure of the person inflicting the pain.
synonyms:infliction of pain, abuse, ill-treatment, maltreatment, persecution; sadism
"acts of torture"
great physical or mental suffering or anxiety.
"the torture I've gone through because of loving you so"
synonyms:torment, agony, suffering, pain, anguish, misery, distress, heartbreak, affliction, scourge, trauma, wretchedness; More
hell, purgatory
"the torture of losing a loved one"

I don't care what your personal experience or knowledge is. It is simply not relevant.

A procedure intended to create mental discomfort, and nothing else, is obviously torture by every possible interpretation unless you simply redefine torture to mean something other than torture.

I don't believe i made any assumptions about you. I instructed you on how you could improve your understanding on torture, as you said it's not torture, and i've submitted proof that you're wrong.

First, nobody expects you to endure that you are talking about unless you do something like join ISIS.

What people that are squeamish call torture isn't anything but discomfort. People that talk about torture are not familiar with torture. Discomfort is not torture. Torture is more than sleep deprivation or being wet and cold. Teh level of discomfort that you define torture is nothing more than discomfort. I have experienced the type of discomfort you are talking about in training so I am not sympathetic. If one is willing to engage forces that are opposed to them they should be prepared to deal with the consequences. That is why I went through that training. I don't need you to improve my ****ing understanding about torture. You don't have any clue about what actual torture is. Your definition of torture is nothing more than a temporary discomfort, which is actually, not torture. When you have been on your knees on rice for three hours on concrete or sat in a hole filled with cold water over night and haven't slept for three days let me know. Your definition of torture is not relevant. Get over it.

Bush is going to be so tangled in his brother's policies (and advisors) he will be unelectable. No one wants a return of GWB.
