I've changed my mind on busing the homeless out of state...

There are number of threads that ask the question if we don't see much homeless in red states because they ship them out or jail them...or threads on Alaska considering giving the homeless a one-way ticket out...and I've decided that it is the best, immediate and quickest solution to the homeless problem.

There is an estimated 5,200 homeless people here in Baltimore.

I am sure that if we put them on a plane and then a bus (at the city's expense)...they would find a great new home at the Villages in Florida.

(as always, because there is always at least one of you out there who can't tell sarcasm even when it's their face, I am being sarcastic)

If only FL claimed to be a sanctuary state.

I haven't changed my mind. I'd rather see the homeless housed than have hundreds of liquidity traps who can spend billions on a whim to buy message boards that pissed them off.

Seriously. I'm all for adopting a "Housing First" policy like Finland has and just get the homeless off the streets so they can have a roof over their heads, get the help they need, and not be incentivized to commit crimes, ruin businesses by camping in front of them, and generally contributing to urban blight.

I agree.

Wow
But the paper also noted a rather astonishing fact: three years ago, the paper says, “homelessness in New Orleans was essentially eradicated thanks to an influx of HUD and FEMA dollars that funded hotel stays for unhoused people.” In fact, “after the first push in early 2020, the number of people living on the street dropped to only about 30 in June 2020.” But “since the housing initiative ended in Jan. 2022, the total number of homeless people in New Orleans is creeping toward pre-pandemic levels.”

Given that most homeless are American citizens, a state doesn’t have to be sanctuary state.

Not that I need a state to be a sanctuary state. I mean while the Villages are fine, so would Great Falls or Rapid city. Perhaps Jackson Hole as well.

Having sanctuary status is irrelevant. Just would like to drop off our homeless in nice neighborhoods like these.

(Again, being sarcastic)

Liberal starts a thread and he's gotta fart out something vaguely defiant-sounding, picked from his pile of bumper stickers. It's got nothing to do with the subject of the thread, but now he can tell himself that he owned the libs with his moronic interjection.

Autopilot.
