Why cant the press tell us the actual truth. When they report the number of virus cases, it just keeps going up for any city. Yet the truth is most of them have gotten the virus, and now have gotten over it, and shouldnt be counted. Case in point, here in Lincoln, the first cases was reported over 3 weeks ago, and by now they got thru it, and should no longer be counted.

Trump supporters are complete morons with a deep seeded psychological need to downplay this crisis in any way possible. Even the news simply reporting the infected numbers is some vast liberal conspiracy to make Trump look bad.

Is there no difference between reporting "125,000 infected!" and "125,000 infected with 2,500 of those infections serious or critical and 2,500 deaths"?

Like putting a mask on an Alpaca?

They aren't testing people that report having had the virus and recovered from it. Case in point is myself. I am not added to the numbers because I haven't been tested but my doctor told me that it's very possible I had it already. The numbers of people that have already been counted remain in the number of cases for obvious reasons. This virus may act like tuberculosis where someone will always test positive with a PPD test if they've ever been exposed to TB.

Mystery In Wuhan: Recovered Coronavirus Patients Test Negative ... Then Positive

Some Recovered Coronavirus Patients In Wuhan Are Testing Positive Again : Goats and Soda : NPR

But some Wuhan residents who had tested positive earlier and then recovered from the disease are testing positive for the virus a second time. Based on data from several quarantine facilities in the city, which house patients for further observation after their discharge from hospitals, about 5%-10% of patients pronounced "recovered" have tested positive again.

Wow, this post might be up for some kind of award.

Why does the CDC keep giving the press false info to print? Bastages. Can't Trump make them share the real numbers? They're part of the executive branch.

"The garbage can was only half full so, technically, I only didn't take out half the garbage. So that's only half a point against me."

Those kids got older and now support Trump.

Hi! The data most often seen by this poor old country mouse is the total number of US cases that have tested positive for the virus and the total number of deaths attributed to the virus.

I see no need to adjust these figures.

Regards, stay well and be thankful you're not one of the '15'.

SIAP. I'd get another doctor (if you can do it). Telling you that you probably have coronavirus w/o a test. Guess the doc doesn't know anything about psychology, either...or politics

This is jaw-droppingly stupid.

He happens to be of Chinese descent and he's a gastroenterologist. We spent almost an hour on the phone -- no face to face appointments. No, he did not say that I 'probably have it', he said 'you probably had it'. I went through my documented history from the first day I became ill to current day. I have no symptoms other than a gift the virus left my body, the red butterfly-pattern mask on my face known as the 'malar rash'. He told me it appeared because my immune system was kicked into over-drive and should resolve in a few weeks. I told him I do not want a test since I am no longer ill or have symptoms. He concurred.

Scientists have to justify why they are treating this pandemic like it is the mother of all pandemics. If you read my sig, you'd realize I don't believe the scientists. I don't think we need to sacrifice our way of life to defeat this pandemic (which isn't the mother of all pandemics).

EDIT: Side note: if the US treated Saddam's Iraqi military in the first gulf war like the world is treating this pandemic, the US would've never beaten Iraq in the first gulf war...It would still be going on today...and everybody would've been conscripted into the US military:roll:.

The body has immunities to fight the virus. Hum.

EDIT: Let's get serum from your blood and initiate a vaccine.

Yeah, damn anyone who tries to desiminate any positive news. We can't have that. That might help Trump, or something.

I'd be fine with that if the government would pay for it.

There's yer problem

The reason why pretty much every medical professional is saying "this is a big deal" is because this is a big deal. Epidemics are slow at first, and then they explode. If you wait until things get bad, then it's too late.

COVID-19 is doubling the number of cases roughly every 3 days in the US. If we do nothing, that rate will continue, and we'll have 3 million cases by Easter, and 150 million cases by the end of April.

It's not just about deaths, either. 20% of people who get COVID-19 will need hospitalization. However, hospitals in majorly affected areas are already running into major issues, as they are running out of beds and ventilators. Hospital staff are also at high risk, which means that as more staffers get sick, there are fewer people to provide medical care. This forces hospitals to triage (i.e. decide who they can save, and who they can't) and drives up mortality rates.

Refusing to believe the professionals and experts will only make things worse.

That is your problem (and scientists (and politicians)). Treating this like it was the mother of all pandemics. That alone, treating it like the mother of all pandemics PROLONGS the pandemic as one is prone to be careful in measures to stop the pandemic. How long are you able to, for example, be w/o a job?

EDIT: Side note: Trump estimated it would be 3 weeks, now, (Easter) that the country could afford to keep paying unemployment checks to everybody.

The media has been doing a terrific job on this crisis. They have been interviewing the health officials who know what they're talking about and reporting that information faithfully. An exception is Fox, which went along with Trump's idiocy for far too long (the one exception has been Tucker Carlson).

Thanks largely to the Democrats, people will be able to obtain enhanced unemployment compensation for four months. It looks right now, according to the latest model, that we will be able to lift restrictions around the end of May, early June in most places. Later for areas led by idiot Republicans, like Florida (mid-July for them).
