She wouldn't have been able to run. Bernie would have run instead. Trump wouldn't be president.

It's one of those cases in life where winning is really losing but you don't realize it yet.

I think it's the same with Trump. Maybe it would have been better for Republicans in 2020 if Trump had been thrown out of office. Trump has very high negatives. He won because he ran against someone with even higher negatives. Can he win against a likable person like Bernie Sanders? We'll have to see.

It's a lot like that proverb about the farmer his horse and his son who breaks his leg. We don't know what is fortunate or not until we see everything play out in time.

Maybe so, Maybe not. We’ll see.

Um, no.

It's a tough sale to convince Americans to give the WH to the same party three times in a row, and that's an even harder sale, when the candidate of the incumbents party embraces a divisive label like socialism that strikes fear into the hearts of many independents.

We'll never know what would have happened, but to think Sander's wouldn't have a hard time winning the election is just delusional.

Bernie is dead meat.

Bernie Sanders Says 'Get Rid of the Insurance Companies,' Won't Support Anything But Medicare For All

Sanders would have won easily. He's very popular in the rust belt where Hillary was very weak. And they did polling which showed that Sanders did better than Hillary.

The only people who care about "socialism" are the hardcore Republicans.

But many polls that hypothetically paired the two candidates showed Sanders with a large lead over Trump. According to RealClear Politics data, NBC/Wall Street Journal surveys had the independent lawmaker up by an average of 9 points. CBS News/New York Times polls showed Sanders ahead by an average of 15 points.

Sanders himself pointed out that he fared much better against the real estate mogul than Clinton, telling NBC during an interview in spring 2016 that “right now, in every major poll, national poll and statewide poll done in the last month, six weeks, we are defeating Trump, often by big numbers and always at a larger margin than Secretary Clinton is.”

Bernie Sanders Would Have Beaten Donald Trump in 2016, According to 'Every Single Poll,' Says Senator's Wife

It's all hypothetical but generally candidates with high negatives lose. Trump won because both candidates had high negatives. Trump is currently the most hated politician in American political history.

Bernie wasn't the nominee. It's kind of pointless speculating how he would or wouldn't of done. It also doesn't take into effect those whom would of sat the election out on protest and Those whom went to vote for a historical candidate that otherwise wouldn't of made the effort. IMO if 2016 was another old white man run off, voter turn out would of been lower. That generally favors the Republican party.

How popular do you think it'll be to people who will lose their insurance industry jobs because Bernie wants to put them out of business?

They'll get new government jobs in the expanded medicare department.

I doubt many people are too worried about the insurance companies staying in business.

Anyone who believes that Bernie could beat Trump is delusional. What are bernies accomplishments?

Unless the Republican candidate has extremely high negatives.

If you look at almost every election, the most charismatic candidate wins. Trump is definitely more charismatic than Hillary. But Bernie is more charismatic than Trump. He's also more likable and trustworthy.

My only point is you never know what's a victory and what is not. Trump on the 2020 ticket may turn into a blue wave. Or maybe a red socialist wave.

P.S. I'm not a Bernie supporter. I would vote for him over Trump but I would prefer almost any other more moderate Democrat.

It's one thing to be popular when you're the only nice guy and your opponents are not likable people with enormous character flaws.

Sander's poll numbers are dropping like a rock now, far behind Biden, and it's not just because of name recognition. It's because he really is too far to the left for a lot of Democrats and independents.

Polls show Bernie Sanders popularity among all voters is plummeting - CNNPolitics
Our new CNN poll puts Sanders favorable rating at 46% compared to an unfavorable rating of 45% among registered voters. This is only the latest poll to have Sanders at basically even in his net favorability rating (favorable-unfavorable). A Quinnipiac University poll from late December gave the Vermont senator a net favorability of just +2 points. An average of all recent polls put Sanders' net favorability at about -1 points.
Compare that to where Sanders was at the end of his 2016 presidential bid. Sanders had a 59% favorable rating to 36% unfavorable rating among all voters in a CNN poll taken in June 2016.

all the Democrats have come on board.
Nope.

Medicare For All

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.): Wants to eliminate private insurance and establish a single source of health-care coverage for prescriptions, medical, vision, dental and mental health care.
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) has stuck by Sanders' bill, telling CNN's Jake Tapper that the U.S. needs to eliminate going through an insurance company and "move on." She also co-sponsored the Medicare at 50 Act and Schatz's State Public Option Act.
Former HUD Secretary Julián Castro: Supports it, saying at an event with Iowa Democrats that the U.S. should "be the healthiest nation," per the Hill.
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii): Supports Medicare for All, but doesn't want to eliminate private insurance.
Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper: Supports single-payer health care, advocating for the general idea rather than a specific policy.
New Age spiritual guru Marianne Williamson: Supports a "Medicare for All model," according to her campaign website.
Former tech executive Andrew Yang: Advocates for a single-payer health-care system.
Medicare or Medicaid expansion

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) is a co-sponsor of Sen. Debbie Stabenow's Medicare at 50 Act, which allows ages 50 to 64 to buy into Medicare. Booker is a co-sponsor on Sanders' bill.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.): Told CNN she wants to expand Medicaid and Medicare and doesn't want to get rid of private health care right away. Supports Medicare at 50 Act.
Former Texas representative Beto O’Rourke: Supports universal health care but is not including Medicare for All in his presidential campaign. He is backing a House Democratic proposal called Medicare for America, which calls for expanding government-run health coverage while keeping employer-sponsored insurance plans, CNN reports.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) is a co-sponsor on Sanders' bill and supports Medicare at 50 Act.
Mixed statements

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) supports Medicare for all, but has been vague about how to achieve it. Her campaign website calls for a "down payment." And at a CNN town hall in March, she said she would "get everybody at the table" to "figure out how to do Medicare for all," which could include a "temporary role" for private insurance companies.
Former representative John Delaney: In an interview with CNBC, Delaney said he supports creating a universal health care system, but not Medicare for All.

"Won't someone think of the insurance companies?"
