Israel vows to hold Iran's leader accountable for "war crimes" after Iranian missile slams into hospital

Tel Aviv, Israel — An Iranian missile slammed into the main hospital in southern Israel early Thursday, leaving dozens of people with minor injuries, causing significant damage, and drawing a swift vow from Israeli leaders of intensified attacks on Iran's military and "government targets." Israel's defense chief accused Iran of war crimes and said its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei would be held accountable.

Israeli media aired video of blown-out windows and heavy black smoke pouring from upper floors of the Soroka Medical Center, but a spokesperson for the facility said there were no serious injuries to patients or staff, as the part of the hospital that was hit directly had already been evacuated.

...

Iran said the primary target of the attack that hit the Soroka Hospital was an Israeli military intelligence site, not the health facility, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack and vowed a response, saying: "We will exact the full price from the tyrants in Tehran."

Bibi suddenly thinks bombing hospitals is bad so ... progress, I guess.

1) this is hilariously rich after everything they've done in Gaza.

2) They want us to forget that the first night of strikes, which THEY started, they hit apartment complexes in Tehran, killing civilians and children?

Bibi is one of those people who doesn't have standing to talk about war crimes even if they are war crimes... for the most part...

(I mean, if they gassed an entire Israeli city, he could talk about war crimes. He hasn't done anything like that, no matter what some like to say)

You'd think once Hamas leader was killed in a tunnel under a main hospital in Gaza these people would figure out the difference between targeting a hospital and targeting a terrorist headquarters that was once a hospital.

IMO, the way people react, there will not be almost any recognition in the rogue state of the crazy hypocrisy between their destroying all hospitals in Gaza, and one missile hitting one hospital of theirs.

Remember the US after 9/11, not many were asking questions about what the US was doing right and wrong, there was a bloodlust, a huge appetite for revenge. That's much stronger in the rogue state. IMO, the public there will see only one solution - their solution everywhere all the time - kill them all. And the government is aligned with that.

The only way I'm seeing to intervene in that is their being prevented, and the only country who can do that without great cost is the US, and the US government is hugely under their political control.

When war depends on trump doing the correct policy, that's a disaster. trump cares nothing about the damage of war, and he sees his power as depending on the forces who support war.

In addition, he sees his imbecilic presidency ratings going down, and I think he's aware that what saved the imbecilic presidency of George Bush was the 9/11 reaction and war in Iraq. The only two big political boosts. And I think trump would like the boosts war tends to give presidents. What's the argument on the other side - the lives of Iranians?

You have to admit, Bibi does have a highly polished sense of humor.

Unbelievable. The cauldron calling the pot black.
Iran should not have nuclear weapons; no one should have nuclear weapons.

There are around 13 ME countries that don't support/recognize Israel. Netanyahu will find a reason to start a war with all of them.

After the number of apartment complexes they deliberately targeted and bombed in Tehran this week, I feel little sympathy for Israel on this matter.
Israel doesn't target civilians in Iran. It targets regime and military infrastructure.

Incorrect, in this case Bibi was very clear that he is targeting civilian scientists - nuclear physicists, material scientists, academics, pretty much anybody with the know-how regardless of their actual engagement - because he didn’t want to simply destroy the facilities, he wanted to kill the knowledge wherever it existed. That’s why he specifically targeted apartment buildings where civilians like university professors with backgrounds in nuclear fission were living.

And that’s a choice he can make but it does have consequences.

One of those consequences is that most of the world probably no longer cares if a missile strikes and Israeli building full of civilians.

Iranian nuclear scientists are not ordinary civilians, just like German scientists employed by the Nazis weren't.
They're people who try to get Islamist Jihadists weapons of mass destruction.

It's also weird that you're saying that you have no sympathy for the deaths of civilians on one side because of the deaths of nuclear scientists on the other side.
The great humanist that you are.

Iranian scientists not employed by the government are ordinary civilians.

Why are you in favor of Israel deliberately targeting Iranian civilians? Does the idea of Iranian civilians dying horribly elicit feelings of pleasure within you? Would you describe any of those feelings to by physical in nature?

The Iranian military isn't hiding behind their non-combatant civilians in Iran.
That's true to a certain extent, but Israel isn't targeting civilian targets.

That's true to a certain extent, but Israel isn't targeting civilian targets.
Bibi disagrees and we’ll take his word over yours since odds are that you haven’t been read into his war planning briefings. I don’t think he even knows who you are.

I'm in favor of targeting Iranian nuclear scientists working with the regime to get them nuclear weapons.

You however just admitted that Israel targeting those people means you don't care for civilian casualties in Israel.
Which is insanely dumb unless you're trying to purposefully demonstrate that you're fine with murdering civilians as long as they're Israeli Jews.
Hypocrisy? I think blind hatred rather.

News media
State TV of their dictatorship is regime target. It's not CNN or MSNBC.
And civilians were warned to evacuate from the specific area so not sure if any civilians were killed there.

Israel is not perfect. However, there are equivocal differences.

Israel does not harbor military equipment and personal within and underneath hospitals and residential areas. They do not use their citizens as shields.

Hamas uses hospitals and residential areas of Gaza to do precisely that. Hamas makes their hospitals and citizens military targets.

There is a difference.

See? You are in favor of civilian scientists being killed simply because they are civilian scientists. Why your blind hatred of civilian scientists? Do you blindly hate all of them, or only the Iranian ones?
