They declared war on Hamas as a response to the atrocities carried out by Hamas against innocent Israeli civilians last week. They are not trying to "cover their asses" at all. In fact, they have been quite open about what they are going to do.
They are going to wipe out Hamas. Completely obliterate them. Nothing can stop that now.
Of course, it's CYA. The "warnings' are meaningless and impracticable, for the reasons various posters here have repeatedly pointed out. They declared war on Hamas as a response to the atrocities carried out by Hamas against innocent Israeli civilians last week. They are not trying to "cover their asses" at all. In fact, they have been quite open about what they are going to do.

Btw, Israel has been committing atrocities - disproportionately so - against captive civilians in Gaza for many years, in attempts to "wipe out" Hamas. They declared war on Hamas as a response to the atrocities carried out by Hamas against innocent Israeli civilians last week. Tell me why the Palestinians can't stop attacking Israel?
What's wrong with those people?
Gaza City is more densely populated than NYC.
I really am sorry that I have to point out the following:
Gaza City does not have the systems of mass transportation available in NYC. Furthermore, even if it did, there's currently no electricity or gasoline to FUEL mass transit systems. Or private vehicles.
Hamas, not Palestinians or Gazans.Tell me why the Palestinians can't stop attacking Israel?
What's wrong with those people?
You compared the mass transit systems - and the access to fuel - of NYC to Gaza City. The center of Gaza city is about 2 miles from the southern edge of Gaza City. That's a 40 minute walk, at most.
Where are Palestinians living in concentration camps?Yeah, why won’t they just sit quietly in their concentration camps and slowly die out?

Comparing the infrastructures of New York to those of a partly destroyed city where there's fuel shortage, no water or electricity?Bullshit. A million people move into and out of New York City every day, and a lot of them come from a lot farther than the handful of miles it takes to get from Northern Gaza to Southern Gaza.
The Armenians didn't die out quickly enough for the Turks, so the Turkish Government took steps to hasten their deaths.Yeah, why won’t they just sit quietly in their concentration camps and slowly die out?
Where are Palestinians living in concentration camps?
They're not.
There you go, interjecting inconvenient reality....Across a city choked with rubble and actively being bombed?
GOP Hippo doesn't seem to know much about the history of the Gaza Strip and Israel. They are. And it’s because Israel wants “Eretz Israel”.
The two leading parties broke into open conflict which killed hundreds and split the country in two. Not what I'd call a legitimate democratic process, but suit yourself.Revisionist history about the legitimacy isn’t a good look.

What part of "walking doe snot require fuel" were you unable to comprehend or address?
They have plenty of places to go. The entire southern half of Gaza, for starters.
They are? They are. And it’s because Israel wants “Eretz Israel”.
Where in Southern Gaza are they to go, no homes lots of buildings have been blown up, they don’t have water and little food
And Hamas is telling them to stay and die to protect them. They are using them as pawns. The innocent civilians of Gaza are not Hamas.
Okay, so you were springboarding. Not at all. Simply pointing out the fact that the Israeli Government has a sordid history of victimizing - brutalizing, killing - its captive civilian population.
Of course it isNo, it’s not.
Perhaps Hamas should have thought about that before they invaded Israel? What do you think they expected would happen?Where in Southern Gaza are they to go, no homes lots of buildings have been blown up, they don’t have water and little food
True. And Hamas is telling them to stay and die to protect them. They are using them as pawns.
