Professional wrestling's greatest streak is over. The Undertaker lost to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX Sunday, ending his unbeaten WrestleMania streak at 21 matches.
The streak has been a staple for the pay-per-view event over the past two decades, beginning at WrestleMania VII held in 1991. During his 21-0 run, The Undertaker dispatched opponents such as Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, King Kong Bundy, Triple H and Ric Flair.

I'm just gobsmacked at the idea that adult human beings pay money for this crap.
Can anyone explain to me WTF this is all about?
I'm not sure what I find to be a sadder commentary on stupidity, the popularity of the above tripe, or the popularity of nonsense like Honey Boo-Boo and the Kartrashians....
What has made it even more "newsworthy" this morning is the fact that Vince McMahon, the owner of WWE came out immediately after the match last night and indicated that the other wrestler (Brock Lesnar) deviated from the script. The Undertaker was SUPPOSED to win the match last night and go to 22-0. This is only the second time in WWF/WWE history that there has been this sort of deviation at a MAJOR Pay-Per View event. .
My fiance is a HUGE WWE wrestling fan and has been her entire life; therefore I have become at least marginally knowledgeable about the WWE Universe in the last two years. We watched Wrestlemania last night, through their online feed ($9.99 per month) rather than paying $60 for the cable tv version. The 21-0 streak of The Undertaker is a HUGE deal in that world. Considering there have only been 30 (as of last night) Wrestlemania's, an undefeated streak lasting more than two-thirds of that time is a major storyline. Just as the death of JR Ewing was in the tv soap opera world. For the writers of the plotlines to allow that sort of streak is incredibly unusual in the WWE Universe.

The other, a title match between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart, known as "The Montreal Screw Job" is still talked about among fans of the WWE.
Is this National News? Probably not, but in the Sports Entertainment world it's a MASSIVE story.
Was Undertaker's Loss at Wrestlemania a Mistake? - wafflesatnoon.comWhat has made it even more "newsworthy" this morning is the fact that Vince McMahon, the owner of WWE came out immediately after the match last night and indicated that the other wrestler (Brock Lesnar) deviated from the script. I know it may not be a big deal to you, but a lot of my friends on Twitter who used to watch WWE as children did get upset about this. When I was younger, Undertaker was always perceived to be the "badass who was undefeated at Wrestlemania". The streak did mean something to me despite the fact that it was just acting. I'll be honest, I did feel like a part of my childhood was destroyed when people started tweeting that he lost. I still remember very well when his Wrestlemania record was just 14-0, then 15-0, 16-0, 17-0, and so on. The fact that he doesn't have a streak anymore really feels out of place. It bothers me.
But how do you know that's even true? It's all fake. Maybe the "deviation" claim is fake to make the "news" even bigger? When it's all a lie - how can there be any truth to any of it?
If that's true, that's funny as hell. I don't watch wrestling but I do know from watching the UFC that Lesnar is a huge douche. He was never that good at MMA, he was just big. Once they put some other fighters in the Octogon that were nearly as big, Lesnar was screwed.

I guess it was just a satire piece, The loss was intended. (Unless you're telling me that Vince came out LIVE on Wrestlemania in front of millions of people, which I didn't watch)

What you talkin 'bout?
How impressive is it really to have a long win streak when it's a forgone conclusion?
I used to be a big fan, I still love The Rock, but my interest has decreased a lot over the years. I don't care if it's fake or not, it's just fun entertainment.
It's entertainment in the same vein that lip-syncing is entertainment. Would you pay to go watch the Rolling Stones if you knew the entire sound track as pre-recorded and they were faking the entire thing? Or even more apples to apples - what if it wasn't even the Rolling Stones faking it? What if it was pre-recorded Rolling Stones, but just a group of guys from down the road doing the fake playing?
Would that be entertainment?

Yes, I can tell you what it's about. It's about the trashing out of our society. It's about stupidity and decadence, and a shallowness which has been pervading for decades now.The Undertaker Lost at WrestleMania, and the Wrestling World Is Stunned
