Is this a slur?

So was in a "discussion" with a person elsewhere who used the term "offspring flushers". I feel that he was using it against those who had/have abortions, as a slur. Has anyone else heard this used? Am I wrong?

Granted, he just basically said "it's pretty clear" when i asked him if that was supposed to be a slur against women who have abortions.
So if you had approached me and never told me the context as you said later on, I would have actually assumed it was slur against women who have the baby, and then attempt to flush it down the toilet. I've heard of such people, usually lower income/forced to have the baby for any number of reasons (availability, poor, etc.). It's usually an act of desperation (or an act caused by mental illness) rather than something one would "normally" do.

But once you added the context to it, yes, it became clearer it was more of a slur against those who have had abortion.

Really? slur a Christian to defend a slur by an unknown. SMH
Maybe if you tone down your own hateful speech?

"I guess if you never took recreational drugs in the first place, you could not get hooked. It is a choice he made and with that comes the consequences. Not like his doctor prescribed cocaine."

Every sexually active woman with sex organs and not yet menopausal is an offspring flusher, then, because about 50% of zygotes/blastocysts never implant and perhaps 10% or more implanted embryos fall out before a woman even knows she's pregnant. If she has a miscarriage at 10 weeks and it's complete, it, too, will be flushed down the toilet. People really have to get over this.

I kinda like this one..

Answering the OP.
Yes, it's a slur and not a nice one.

It's intentionally being as offensive as possible for shock value and I can't see myself carrying on a conversation with someone that used that term.

Yeah, I would have guess you did.
Based on what?
That I'm prochoice, pro abortion or some other label that clearly shows I'm for a right to chose?

Doesn't mean the name isn't clever.

IDK, I just wasn't surprised.

I didn't think you were a pro birther, but IDK for sure, never asked you. That wasn't part of my thought process.

Any who, you think a slur to women is clever, let me ask you this....what's so clever about it?

Yeah I agree here

Dark humor aspect of it. It being a slur is irrelevant honestly. Words are just words and they are only as powerful as you allow them to be.

Nor do I really care if people get offended by what I find funny. You are allowed to be offended.

That's pretty much how I viewed your response.

I'm similar actually, if you haven't noticed. But, I'm also a women who gets pounded by this shit, so it can get a bit tiring. Thanks for the honest response, it's refreshing! :)

On that yeah I can see it getting old. Nobody likes a jack hammer pounding you constantly.

:D

Dry sarcastic and dark.

One could read that a few ways given the thread

Gave the term a shot on Google. Didn't get any hits. So appears it certainly isn't common.

Sounds rude. But such is the world these days.

I’ve never seen that before. While I do think it’s intended as an insult, not every insult is a slur.

Three things
I have never heard it
It sounds like a really strange term
It sounds like a slur

No. It was on FB, so much less decorum. I had just never heard someone use that phrase. It is so horrible, in so many ways. And considering the discussion wasn't really about abortion at all, it came out of the blue, although it did seem that the person thinks any woman who is liberal must have had an abortion.
Facebook is so yesterday...

I slur Christians as much as I can get away with. I've been dealing with self-professed "Christians" since kindergarten and they're generally just awful people. As I often say, Christians are those people who behave the least like Christ.

First time I have heard the term. While I would only use the term for those terminating a pregnancy for convenience sake(birth control), I don't see it as a slur.

This settles the debate.

Not a slur.

And you get a semi-coveted MAGA:

There is NOTHING hateful in that speech. Are you saying Hunter held a gun to his head to take cocaine?

Meh. When they can't win an abortion discussion by common sense and reason, they always resort to emotionalism.

Give it no more of your concern than that.

Sounds derogatory towards women to me. Quite possibly misogynistic too. Quite trollish too.

ITA. Thank goodness I have never heard the expression before but seems obviously clear to me
