Racism is the PRACTICE of discriminating against a group for jobs, education, housing, etc. A racist is person who hates a person because of their race alone.
Honest question, I really dont know. What is the real demographics of the Tea Party? Black membership about 20%or something like that?
Chris Matthews thinks so.
Black Tea Party members decry claims about racism in movement | cleveland.com
"Black members of the tea party movement on Wednesday rejected charges that the group's activists are racist, saying they oppose President Barack Obama because of his policies not his skin color."
You dont have to be the Klan to be racist.
Clearly the Tea Party is a racist organization
My office is smack dab in the middle of my government center. From it I can see the fed complex, the local courts/government/popo, the offices of our congressman/senator and numerous state and local offices. I can see most every protest that goes on. One day I saw a black guy on the steps of the courthouse with lots of black faces in the crowd and walked down to see what they were protesting. That usually happens whenever a black person gets killed by the cops and I had not heard of a killing recently. It turned out it was my first encounter with my local Tea Party protesting Obamacare.
That is what I was asking a while ago. All the tea party members I know in this area are white...cause everyone in my town is just about. Now where you live most members of the Tea Party are black?
Chris Matthews thinks so.
We'll let apdst speak for himself. /jk
It's not a racist organization at it's core, but there are many racist members. It became the catch all of anyone who doesn't like Obama for whatever reason, and yes, there are some people who don't like him because he's black.
Here--cut and paste this into Google. Don't even put in the close-quotes mark: "tingle up
Guess what pops up?
Care to back up that bolded assertion? Your next sentence is even more suspect, implying that those that do not like Obama "for any reason" are TP members; perhaps you should back that up as well.
Isn't a much better question this:
Is the tea party even remotely relevant anymore?
Seems an easy enough question to answer. Is the tea party racist? No, not explicitly. Does it have its share of racist individuals? Without a doubt.
Proportionately, not nearly as many as the Democrat Party.
I am not a partisan hack, so do not invest any ego in defending turf.
If you wish to inhabit such political territory where everything is simplified to the extreme and you view the world as a game of cowboys and indians, be my guest.
I'm not sure that others here have yet recognized your superiority.
It's a sizeable movement. That many people, there's bound to be a few racists.
Not everybody who doesn't like Obama for any reason is a TP member, but there are plenty of people there who oppose Obama for any reason, it became the catch all. "I dislike Obama, therefore I am in the Tea Party." Sad as it is to say, there are still racists in this country. Sad as it is to say, those people don't like Obama because he's black.
I didn't say all TPistas were racist, or that it was a racist organization. In fact, I said it wasn't. Maybe you should back up that there are NO racists whatsoever in the TP, since that seems to be your position.
Are you telling me even the black conservatives are racist against Obama, or just the white ones?I agree CM does equal Hannity. But to address the question. I was born and raised a very conservative, funamentalist Christian. Almost everyone I live around is TP right or further. The area I live in is very, very right wing. This is anecdotal, I have no idea how the rest of the country is to this degree, but the people I know around here well enough to know are very racist. It is still not unusual to hear the N word, espically when Obama comes on Faux news at the local bar. In my expericne every far right winger I know well enough to know is racist, often considering themselves post racist. They say stuff like libs are all the racist etc, but in reality...
Are you telling me even the black conservatives are racist against Obama, or just the white ones?
There is no end to exploitation of "inferior groups". That is why they are inferior. So as long as they get to live, everything's okie dokie? But what is "racism" anyway?
Personally, I don't find anything wrong with racism until one starts exploiting or killing the "inferior" groups.
Oh, I think most of them have.
Not where I live, and Rmoney took my county with 60% of the vote.Isn't a much better question this:
Is the tea party even remotely relevant anymore?
