IS leader linked to Paris attacks 'mastermind' killed in Syria: Pentagon

Washington (AFP) - An Islamic State leader with "direct" ties to the alleged mastermind of the Paris attacks was among 10 senior figures in the group killed in Syria and Iraq this month, the Pentagon said Tuesday.

And now it's starting to look like desperation on their part:

After ISIS Leader Called Muslims Everywhere to Terrorism, They Responded With Humor

Over the weekend, news emerged that the leader of the Islamic State group, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, had released a message to his followers. Delivered through ISIS-aligned social media accounts, the 24-minute audio address served as a rallying cry to Muslims around the world to join the cause and taunted the group's growing number of adversaries heading into 2016.

Reponses:

@iyad_elbaghdadi Sorry but I'm watching Star Wars, maybe tomorrow...
Sorry mate, I don't want to risk dying before the next Star Wars comes out. https://twitter.com/iyad_elbaghdadi/status/680776223606333440 ...

@iyad_elbaghdadi in this special occasion, is there any changes in virgin numbers? 72 is so old school.

@yalmaamoun @iyad_elbaghdadi I've heard they're offering an extra 15 virgins as part of a special Black Friday deal in 2016* * =Details TBC

@iyad_elbaghdadi Sorry Amir al-Mushrikeen, I'm busy being a real Muslim, giving to charity etc. Also, your dental plan sucks. #GoatTeethISIS

@iyad_elbaghdadi I wanna wait until April and find out what happened to Jon Snow

@iyad_elbaghdadi can you give me some details of your health plan #IslamIsTheProblem , and what sort of funeral benefits you offer

@iyad_elbaghdadi Oh, dude, can I join? I'm actually an infidel, but I've nearly finished Fallout 4 so I'm going to have loads of time free

@iyad_elbaghdadi You should have told me before. I just renewed my pornhub subscription. Anyways, hope you are enjoying Russian fireworks.

@iyad_elbaghdadi sorry mate but I'm busy radicalizing my jam tonight! Lol pic.twitter.com/Qocsd41vW3

Great news. Obama's patient stategy is paying huge dividends.

Yup...

While the Twitter confusion offered an amusing venue for ISIS troll to go to town, the actual terrorist organization is said to be at a critical crossroads even as it had widened its scope of operations to a global level. On the ground, battlefield setbacks like the loss of Ramadi in Iraq and the free Kurdish stronghold of Rojava in northeastern Syria have brought increased pressure to bear. On both sides, the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, one of the many regional groups contending for power, is reportedly inching closer to the ISIS capital of Raqqa.

How naive can you get?

With it's BS refugee crisis, ISIS has accomplished it's goal of spreading the cancer of Islam throughout the Western world for eternity and the Liberals are congratulating Obama for achieving some sort of ingenious victory.

Perhaps to Obama, this huge step toward final destruction of the Western culture was a victory.

Report: Top Islamic State Commander Captured In U.S. Raid

So what to do with this guy. I hardly think that he's going to be Gitmo bound. Obama's trying to empty that place, and fill it up with more.

You think they'd send him off to the Russians? He is, after all, a Georgian national.

Could hand him to Iran as a peace offering. Of course dude would definitely be in diced up in no time so more like a piece offering.

I must say though, I do like getting them alive. Takes all the wind out of their sales with the whole battlefield morale of martyrdom fiction out of the equation. That and you can get some intel out of them.

Wow. Obama's killing it. Surprisingly not reported on Faux News. I say try him and plant his ass in a supermax for the rest of his life.......

That's the thing.

If you hand him over to Iran, yeah they'll dice him up, and if they bothered to get any intel out of him, do you think they'd share that with the US? Nope.

If you hand him over to the Russians, they may not dice him up, and if they got any intel out of him, do you think they'd share that with the US? Nope.

You can easily see how previous administrations ended up doing CIA black sites and Extraordinary rendition.

Besides, what is the ACLU going to say about handing over a prisoner to a government when the US administration knows almost for a certainty that they are going to receive harsh treatment and probably threatening their lives in the process? I think they'd have a hissy fit until all their heads exploded.

(*sigh*) Yes, once again, liberal ideals collide with and in conflict with reality.

Import terrorists? Really?

Give them rights they have no reasonable right to?

Please, let's keep him off shore. No sense drawing his followers on shore to spring him. No telling what trouble they'd cause.

What is with this stupid herp derp librulz crap again? I swear it must pain you guys to think so you go to this "deeeerrrrr librulz" garbage.

As far as how to handle this guy... I was being facetious. Other than capturing him alive... which I'm glad of.

We interrogate him and put him in a MAX prison.

You don't believe that the ACLU would hold the Obama administration responsible should this guy be handed over to the Russians, or Iran as you suggested?

There's obvious reasons for not bringing that guy in country, as I listed. While Gitmo isn't the perfect solution, it is a solution, and he can rot there for as long as there are Militant Islamic terrorists conducting terrorism.

Nope. Try him, find him guilty, interrogate him and incarcerate him for life. We are not a country of cowards.

Again... I WAS BEING FACETIOUS. That means I didn't mean it. It was a joke. Making a funny.

He is a prisoner so we treat him like a prisoner. Simple as that. He get's no glorified death as I'm sure he wants and his comrades could then rally the troops around. He just rots in prison in a very unglorified way. What else could you possibly want? Battlefield execution? Extended torture chamber? What?

I don't want him in country PERIOD.

What possible logical reasoning can there be for an enemy combatant captured on a foreign battlefield during military operations (both theirs and ours) to fall under US criminal legal jurisdiction? The answer is none. It's not a question of cowardice. It's a question of legal jurisdiction and the rights that he should have, and the rights that he shouldn't have.

Military tribunal would appear to be most appropriate, or send him to the Hauge for international war crimes / crimes against humanity. He can rot there just as well.

I have a lot more faith in US judicial system than you I suppose. And at the same time I'm sure I'm a bigger skeptic of it than you as well.

Did he conspire to kill Americans? Did we capture him?

IPSO FACTO we have legal jurisdisction. As a fiscal conservative and a law and order type of guy I recognize that the cheapest and most secure place for us to stash him is a Supermax. Also though the death penalty is immoral there a good chance for the bloodthirsty types he gets a death penalty. The Feds are pretty good at that stuff. The OKC bomber was dead in a matter of years.

The only real issue I have with bringing him here is that unless he is kept in solitary confinement then he is going to spend from how till the day he dies spreading his perverted version of Islam to many of the exact type of folks who would be receptive to that. And unfortunately what often times make these guys successful terrorists is being good at creating followers and convincing them to do their bidding. So unless we are going to ensure that this guy as well as everyone he has contact with never see the outside of a prison I think bringing him here can have some real concerns.

In a supermax like Colorado other than a prison guard he will literally never see a single other person. He will never see a clear horizon a landscape nothing! No TV limited to no reading material. It's a pretty hellish way to spend the rest of your life. We"ve done it with many people whom you've already (rightfully) forgot ever existed.

Don't suppose you have a link that backs that as everything I have seen says they still get social time. Not saying your wrong as its not a topic I have researched much but I have read things that indicated otherwise.

This is going to sound barbaric but it would have been nice to capture the guy and give him to the Saudis. He could suffer before he got his 72 Virgins.

They can give him to the Saudis. They know how to deal with people of a radical mind set. Russia might want him back also. That wouldn't be good for him. Win/win.

I assume they'd give him several million$. I presume he's a militant Sunni....
