Is it just me or did things get really calm and really boring really fast?

I think that one thing Joe is doing. He's trying to find competent people to do their jobs, and then he's going to let them do their jobs. Mind you, once the government is functioning again, that does not mean I won't be figuring out reasons to criticize him, but first, I am giving him a grace period to at least get a functioning government into place.

It’s been relatively quiet and boring I agree. Here, there is a fair number of But Dementia! comments and snark but even the crackpot conspiracy theories e.g. Hunter’s Laptop seem to have abated somewhat. Seth Meyers practically needs a new job now.

thanks for the summary!

this is the most important work right now. It’s frustrating that the prior admin botched the transition and didn’t give Biden the courtesy of a single confirmed cabinet member by Inauguration Day. Until his cabinet is in place, the “why hadn’t Biden fixed everything yet” snark can be safely dismissed.

Now that Trump is off of Twitter and the Biden Administration is at work things seem really calm. I'm not saying that they're not up against mountains but instead of having to listen to their yapping we are watching them work.

It's an illusion, don't fall for it.

The media hate calm.

Calm does not "sell papers."

The media are the lapdogs of the fragile gentleman in the Oval Office. So no excitement there.

So where's the thrills that sell papers?

1. Trump's impeachment trial in February.

2. Trump's subsequent legal problems. For example, that New York State Attorney General is his nemesis. She's out to get him. Why? I am not allowed to say.

3. If he goes to prison, all the journalists will be soiling their clothes in excitement.

4. If he doesn't, then the media will start harassing his businesses in the hope of bankrupting him.

5. Then there's always his family they can harass. Barron might be a good target for the low lives of the American media. And, of course, they can always make up stories about Melania.

Yes, it's going to be a boring four years about the Oval Office occupant.

But it's going to be a humdinger when it comes to the media's obsession: The Honorable Donald J. Trump.

It is going to be boring not because there aren't problems to deal with or that the President is doing things you don't like, it will be boring because you won't know any of what is really going on.

I am sure you will be thrilled to sleep for 4 years.

It’s better than whipping everyone up into a frenzy looking for Obama’s secret birth certificate for six years straight or stolen elections. That’s not being awake. That’s just trying to beat the herd into a stampede all the time.

BUT AT THE COST OF hundreds of thousands of lives becomes manslaughter, genocide, premeditated murder I mean how deep can political malpractice go?

My guess is most people’s lives are not particularly affected by who is President. If you feel some huge difference it’s probably all psychological. Goings on inside your head.

Yeah, presidents don't affect things like wars or pandemics or the national debt and they definitely don't push policy like healthcare and things like that.

Well they can affect wars certainly but I don’t recall any recent changes in wars. Or debt or pandemics or healthcare.

The debt was erased out by Trump. And he fixed healthcare and didn't lie about COVID.

True, never seen a psychological impact on us like the last 4 years. Now, without that, it is boring and that is good.

Well, except for the “us” part. I did not spend the last 4 years squealing about Hitler and Russia. When I said the President doesn’t affect my life much it applies to all the Presidents so far.
